This is the WORST idea of his. It's perfect that Obama didnt pick Hillary now. McCain looks like he's picking a woman just because...

This is too funny! If he thinks this is going to help him, he's totally delusional.

Now I can relax and just wait for the landslide.

Bottom line, why should let the republicans run this country anymore? The last 8 years have been a MISTAKE by ANYONE's standards. NO ONE HERE CAN DENY THAT.

So, why not take a chance? It can't be worse than it is now, unless you vote republican.

Pippin, the reason I said that about the general mood was because of the war. I may be wrong, but no one, absolutely no one I ever spoke to is for it. I haven't heard anyone say they wanted to vote Republican anymore.

But of course, I'm not considering the vast area between our metropolitan centers in the US.

McCain/Palin vs Obama/Biden

I really wish she would focus on her own family right now though with an infant at home still. It just reaks of unbridled ambition on her part to me.

That aside, some of you are not going to like what I write next but feminists are not some monolith either. There are many conservative-leaning feminists who deeply resent the ones that Rush refers to as children- and man-hating "feminazis". Likewise, there are many 50+ minority feminists who now lament jumping on the 70-era feminist bandwagon because it left many of them husband-less for a number of reasons, some abominable, others valid.

McCain with Palin on the hunt changes the entire dynamic of this race.

PalJoey--you're well aware of the philosophical divide between feminists of "our" era and the new guard. Palin appeals to latter.

Obama/Biden NOW have their work cut out for them.

Palin was always the GOP's trump card. She's Huckabee in a pant suit damnit!!!

Just because this pick is mind-shatteringly bad doesn't mean Obama is a shoo-in. The Republican party will be pulling out all the stops to try to stop the Obama/Biden ticket. It's still a long way to November.

Aging second wave feminists know a smoke screen better than any of us, so don't be so sure they'll be taken in by this oh-so-obvious grasp at votes that he won't be able to get otherwise.

If there is anything that feminists hate, second-wave or otherwise, it's pandering by chauvinists like McCain.

Why her? Wasn't there any other female republicans? I don't see the reasoning in this. They have been harping the whole inexperience thing and so they get someone less qualified then Obama?

I know they think they can get Hilary supporters but really how can they support this women who is pro life? What about the ethics investigations? She has to debate Biden, good luck

Palin has done her part for her child by not aborting it when she found out it had Down's Syndrome. What more do people want from her? Jeesh!

Here folks- this is the "GOP's Trump Card."

Less than two years as governor, half of that time working a diminished schedule due to Pregnancy and family needs. Previously a VERY small town (5,000 people) mayor. A certified pawn of the oil industry. Under investigation for ethical lapses. A former sportscaster with a degree in journalism. Posed for Vogue Magazine.

Well, I didn't want to point out the obvious GOP spin that headed in our direction but you twisted my arm.

1. She chose to give life (Who cares, people do it all the time)

Hannity, Limbaugh and Coultergeist will paint female supporters of Obama/Biden as aider and abetters of abortion which will play in the right's favor in the Old South.

2. She's a governor (of an imaginary state)

Her productive ovaries matter more than the # of electoral votes allocated to her state.

3. She wants ANWAR open and hasn't been coy about it (who cares)

The GOP will use this to depict the "greens" as a bunch of tree-hugging lunatics and a mean to sell caribou meat to Russia. Hell, they already buy kangaroo meat from the Aussies.

4. She's a former beauty queen...(who cares)

IMO the most important one. Americans simply expect high profile women to be "eye candy" and this lady has "babe credentials". Much was made of the unflattering attire and harsh lighting that affected the distaff side of the Democratic primary race.

Call me a shallow neaderthal if it please you but an endless stream of photos and video footage of her in her pageant glory days will emerge. McCain will be flanked by two babes on that stage making him appear more virile.

It's the one-cock-in-the-henhouse method of GOP vetting.
