I doubt the show could recover if Baldwin leaves, it's doing badly enough as it is...
Divorced dad Alec Baldwin, caught yelling at his daughter on a voicemail message, said Wednesday he asked NBC to let him out of his "30 Rock" contract so he can devote his time to the issue of "parental alienation."
"If I never acted again I couldn't care less," Baldwin said in a pre-taped appearance for ABC's "The View," scheduled to air Friday.
The actor, in a transcript provided to The Associated Press by "The View," said that he also wanted to quit "30 Rock" so the sitcom and the hundreds who work on it wouldn't "be hurt by the situation."
NBC, however, quickly shot down the idea. The actor has became a key asset for the freshman sitcom, stealing the show as an oily but charming network executive overseeing a "Saturday Night Live"-type program.
Alec Baldwin Wants Out of 30 ROCK
Amanda, you're so prolific.
Amanda24 for PRESIDENT!
Who's with me???
Can I get a few of those in 8x11?
Do you not care about the environment?
Back on topic--thanks skank!--Mr. Baldwin clearly needs some affection and more...and I'd like to offer my services to cheer him up.
Ahaha, Kringas that is awesome.
30 Rock is not doing "Badly". It was renewed for next season,
But I agree that if Baldwin leaves, it would be a big hit.
And Amanda, you are such a silly, silly girl.
Whatever happened to gentlemen, like Bing Crosby?
or joan crawford for that matter?
That show is DOA without Baldwin.
and with him, if ratings don't pick up quickly next season.
Where was his worry about parental alienation when he decided to do the show?
This guy is off in some way, and I hate to say it, because I've always like him.
Most reviews I've read seem to single out Baldwin's performance as one of the funniest currently on TV. Along with Tina Fey Baldwin is the center of that show, if he parts, they're going to have to cast some major big name who can be as hilarous as Baldwin to helm the show.
I hope ratings do pick up, these show is not only funny but incredibly smart and witty...I guess that's why it isn't doing so well.
Request denied, according to Backstage.
like frasier, man i wish nbc would've given that smart and witty show a chance.
Rath, I clicked on the link when I saw the headline but it's the same press release from the link I posted. The release is very confusing, NBC apparently says that they denied Baldwin's request but Baldwin doesn't seem to want to be in the show anymore. It all seems a bit unclear to me at least from the article.
And I agree, Rath, as much as I enjoy Baldwin's acting something is clearly off, especially since this isn't the first time his temper has been cause of controversy (as Jan Maxwell is very much aware of).
Yes, and it's not like Jan Maxwell has a reputation for being difficult or causing trouble. I've worked on a show with her, in fact, so know firsthand that's she's not only completely professional, but delightful.
Do you think the true underlying reason is the Stritch scared him off?
BUT, can Richard Thomas do dry comedy? Hmmmm....

Why is replace in quotes? What's it a euphemism for?

It's Alec with a C.
He can't make a rock bigger than he can throw.
You are a silly, silly girl.
Richard Thomas is a very talented actor, but he cannot do anything. The same with Jim C.
You silly, silly girl.
If anyone were to replace Baldwin, the first name that comes to mind is Christopher Walken.

"Richard Thomas CAN do anything. There isn't anything HE can't do. So could Jim C. ('Passion Of The Christ')"
I'm kind of glad that the ignore feature isn't working for me because I don't want to miss gems like this.
