A facebook friend posted multiple pictures of his car accident including the wreckage, himself in the ambulance and self-portraits in the emergency room as he was being treated. When I remarked that seemed odd he snapped "DON'T JUDGE ME!"

Is that nuts? Why in the world would you do that?

I put a photo of a gauze square with the tiniest blood droplet on it after last summer's toenail incident because I wanted the world to know the HELL I ENDURE. Maybe he was looking for support, as was I.

He probably wants attention. Likes, sympathy, etc. A lot of people I'm friends with on FB do such things.

I, meanwhile, untag most photos I'm tagged in and only update my status with amusing quips.

Seriously, I faked an accident and posted pix and a link to my pay-pal account and totally raked it in. Bought a boat and learned who my true friends were all in one.

I'm really questioning Facebook's role in my life right now. I'm becoming very jaded in feeling that most people are so hungry for attention they post every and all occurrences in their lives.

People are really getting to an odd place where they think their lives are more significant and important than they actually are.

It's been disturbing me lately.

"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal "I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

I've said for quite some time: people are more interested in documenting their lives rather than living thier lives.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I like posting news that I think is worth sharing on FB. That way, all my friends at once can get the message I want to send them. Killing over 300 birds with one stone!

Not forgetting the tasks unachievable, mountains unscalable...

I've known many people who love to wear their accidents and physical maladies as badges of honor and are more than willing to share every gory detail. Had my grandmother been alive during the era of Facebook, the world would see every weeping surgery scar she had with a highly embellished narrative.

I just discovered the bizarre world of "Crunchy mama blogs" where abut 80% of the posts seem to be about A) how sick your kids are and b) the lengths you go to avoiding all sorts of random foods (gluten, dairy, corn etc) so your kids don't get sick. I think this was an outgrowth from that. (It was apparently a fairly minor fender bender that he is milking like a no-growth hormone, completely organic cow.)

A friend of mine posted graphic pictures of the serious gash her adult son suffered on his arm when a mirror he was carrying cut him. It's really graphic and I was wondering how I could delete it from my wall. Apparently I can't, so I'm just trying to avoid it.

In her case, people were asking how serious the injury was and she felt "a picture is worth a thousand words"

It's really gross.

I've got a few people on my friend list who do this stuff as well. I agree it's for the attention and sympathy, and I usually ignore them. I'm not interested in attending a pity party.

I also don't undetstand why people post sonogram pics, isn't that a bit too personal? I certainly don't care to see that. Or the thousands of pictures of your kids. Or what you ate for dinner (I have friends who post pictures of their meals).

I think I need to lay off FB for a while...

He is part of the clan that posts pictures of his kid in a hospital bed (with no explanation) or cryptic "poor me" posts like "Pray for Ashley!" or "With Hezikiah at the Emergency room- again."

1984 has arrived! George Orwell was a prophet.

I've realized I like facebook more to keep tabs on the projects of my favorite Broadway actors, musicians, bands and businesses. I really could be done with the whole "friends and family" part.

I long for the days of repression and privacy. It definitely had its merits.

Speaking of Facebook privacy- I just deleted everyone who posted that stupid "You may not understand this but since Facebook went public you have to reprint this boilerplate or anyone can look at your pictures" or whatever the hell it said. I don't want to have friends that are that stupid.

That was a great litmus test Joe. I may follow your lead. I "hide" anyone who posts the "I have a friend with cancer, repost this if you hate cancer. If you don't I know you love cancer" or the "I'm checking to see how many people read my posts. Post where we met and then repost this so I can comment on yours."

Eff all that bullshiz.

I just thought of the latest annoyance on fb by one of my friends.

He keeps getting sunburns and posting pics of it, with comments like "I'm buuuuuurning" .... again, lol!

At least several of his friends and I commented on how dangerous getting a sunburn is, (he is very pale to begin with) and the dangers of melanoma.

Well, last week, he did it again, saying he's burning again, with an LOL again, and I let him have it. Couldn't help myself.
