Got through twice for Blake just now and once for Chris. Can't get through for Phil and need to go to bed, but I'm sure he won't need my help.

I know it's early in the season, but this has to be one of the blandest groups of finalists yet. Not one of them stands out or appears to have that something special. Hopefully the girls will fair better tomorrow night. But from what I've seen of them thus far, I'm not holding my breath. Where's the star quality? Where's the talent???

You're lucky, Shbrt! I'm still trying to vote for Blake...

That was the sorriest excuse for talent I have seen in quite a while. And I have seen some really dreadful performances recently. Can you really see ANY of these men winning this contest? Not a chance. Unless, of course, the women suck more.

PEACE.

The boys this season are awful. Terrible. I'm stunned that this is the best they could do. Some are boring, some are not supporting their at ALL, and some have no clue what they're singing. Breathiness grates on my nerves like nobody's business.

The only one to moderately impress me was the last guy, Phil. Overall, I'm very cold towards this group. I'm praying that the girls are better.

I think a lot has to be said for nerves and for most or all of them, being new to all the mics and cameras and such. The potential is clear in a few of them.

I was thinking it was the Vote for the Worst, too...right now the last two are Paul Kim and Nicholas Pedro...not that either of them are the greatest, but jeez, I'd like to look at Nick for another few weeks!

I never got this way over Justin Timberlake. Not even Colin Farrell. I don't think I've had a puppy crush on a celeb since I came out (Marky Mark! LOL And Ryan Phillipe when he played the gay teen on OLTL).

Hey, he's not a celebrity... yet. So it still counts as just a regular-person crush. re: American Idol - Performance Appraisals

I am not home at that time so I not able to see the show-- I just read on the AI board (which kind of frighten me to be honest) that Chris Richardson did I Don't Wanna Be exactly the same arrangement as Elliot did it last year what does he want to be an Elliott knock off--
is that true...? (God I hope not) I caught and was a bit stunned- not in a good way -- A Song for You...honestly. Before Elliot; Donny Hathaway had never been heard on Idol. Ever. Green Shirt. Sunglasses. What was that about? Maybe I am just being defensive but, there is only one Elliot, and he got shoved, screwed and pushed out by the Idol machine.

He truly was the only person I ever voted from AI.-- ever...greatly looking forward to his album dropping on March 20. Indeed, I just went back and watched If You Really Love Me from this point last season....as I was On Broadway as a child, I was a goner from the beginning for Elliott, but it was Moody's Mood that Knocked me Off My Feet... which actually came later in the season.....but, that boy was Trouble, indeed he made me Believe to my Soul went Home to Richmond's Open Arms.

(I know I left a few out a few songs..but I have shown way to much of my fangirl side as it is)

I was sitting in a bar this evening, and saw my very first moments of the Idol phenomenon - even though the sound was off. I think my reaction can be summed up as, "I don't get it."

But, it doesn't matter if I do or not - it is obviously what the populace is responding to. Making this one more check-off on the list of things that make me different from the norm.

From what I saw this evening, I can't say I'm sorry about that distinction.

DG: That's funny because my best friend had me start watching it at the beginning of season three because I had become obsessed with CSPAN and could, according to her, no longer engage in even the most banal human conversations.....

So, I generally regarded it as a diversion and used it as a platform to mock both the contestants and the viewers. (I had opted to consider it research assignment in pop culture)...

That is until Elliot, what's odd is that I thought I was over the heat of obsession -- I am absolutely a big fan and look forward to his CD, but I could feel my blood pressure rise when I saw people discussing an Elliot-Wannbee...I have a bad feeling this lands me smack into the middle of the mainstream-- and I don't think I have ever been mainstream about anything in my life...

I've been outside the whole 'reality' sensation completely - and Idol seems to be the biggest thing going. I swear I'm turning into a broken record, but I keep going back to Jean Brodie's line:

"For people who like that sort of thing, that's the sort of thing they like."

And I am obviously not one of those people.

DG...I can see your point but, but on the other hand...the husband of the woman who insisted I watch it in the first place is among the most successful attorneys in the country...sometimes a person just needs cotton candy for the brain, even if it's a not-great- talent-reality-show. It's not as if we all aren't acutely aware of how inane the concept of the show is.

Rad - please don't misunderstand me, I place NO JUDGEMENT on it whatsoever - I'm thrilled that so many are having such a good time. Honestly, in my perspective, I wish more were either singing or being sung to than almost anything else - certainly instead of shooting at each other!

It's just not MY gig, that's all.

Blake was the best by far, but his personality seems a bit grating. And Phil sucked in the beginning...I walked out of the room, but by the end pulled it together.

The rest...not so good. AJ was OK, I s'pose. I just don't get Sundance.
