American Idol - You Be The Judge

DG: I totally get it. I was working at what was America West (now better known as some other carrier that I can't remember anymore...which causes problems when talking about where to pick up my son after Suns games...which really has nothing to do with this..but, I ramble, it's either endearing or annoying - depending on whether a person takes to me or not...it's a love/hate thing.) Anyway, as a rule, I have a physical aversion to all things pop cultureish- my theory is that if it's popular I make every do my best to hate or simply ignore it... which explains why at 37 I smoke, even though I know it's terrible for me, have never seen Titanic, live like a hermit to the very best of my ability and remain celibate despite the fact that I am beginning to suspect damage to my mental health. You can imagine my dismay when Harry Potter, Reservoir Dogs, Fight Club, and Trainspotting all became cultural juggernauts...
So I had NO idea what people were talking about during the Clay/Ruben thing.. nor did I want one, but after I finally got a divorce I became completely anti-social and since I love and value her opinion I trusted that to have even a casual conversation I would have to reform my ways a little bit.
Alas, in the past few years I have discovered that having teenagers...one of which very literally towers over me by a foot I no longer have the power over the remote control, so I have been subjected to more reality TV than I care to mention since I got physically overpowered.

The guys always stink the first night...I only liked Chris Sligh, Blake and Phil...they all need to calm down quite a bit...it happens every year.

Liked my Chris S till he pulled out the cocky card way too soon. Showing backbone is one thing, being snotty is another.
I also liked Blake much better than during the auditions. Glad to see he's keeping the beatbox mostly under wraps, too gimmicky.
I'm one of the few who likes Phil a lot. But that's no real surprise if you know me.
Who I hate? Chris Richardson. RadiGal summed up a lot of my thoughts, but I'm going to shut up about Elliott this year. I was far too crazy last year.

Oh. I'm not the only crazed Elliot fan on the board then? I literally watched and re-watched all the videos in the week between his elimination and the finale..my kids were beginning to worry..but when he came out on that first number with the b&w t-shirt and jacket...looking so relaxed, and I got the distinct impression that he threw Open Arms in Clive's face.. last night when I re-watched I Don't Wanna Be...it occurred to me that if Elliot had wanted it, he could easily have changed the. I am more convinced that it was a choice...and I have never met an Elliot fan who thought I Believe to my Soul was a bad song choice, maybe for another person but it was absolutely perfect for him.
One more pet peeve...a Ray Charles song is never going to be more "dated" or "obscure" than any Joe Cocker song even on a bad day.
YAY.
I can't wait until March 20. I want this to be HUGE for him ya know? He has a classic voice...sorry...rambling again..

Hey all!
Shilly McShill here.
I usually don't watch this show but I want to show my support for my friend Antonella Barba who's in the top 12 girls performing tonight.

I'm excited. I hope they're good tonight.
But of course VoteForTheWorst.com will probably ruin this season by keeping Sundance around.
Ow, that dropping to her knees looked like it hurt.

Posted: 2/21/07 at 8:38pmSo that Black History Month Coke ad that was just on, what song is played in it? I mean, is it an actual song or was it probably just written for the commercial? Or is that just a stupid question?

Posted: 2/21/07 at 8:46pmI pick her. It was too cute when they cut to her parents and her mom mouthed, "That's my girl" to no one in particular.

#93re: American Idol - Performance Appraisals
Posted: 2/21/07 at 8:49pmThat was one of the worst things I've ever heard. She is really beautiful though.

Not a good song choice.
I'm gonna admit.
She's always been a nervous girl.
Still...I gotta hand it to her for having guts. Lord knows what I would have done in that situation.

I tuned in as Antonella was going on. Out of deference to FOAnatic, I'll refrain from commenting.
