Tim was better last night. He is charming, but I don't think he's in the same league with the others.
I was happy to see Katie do well. She actually sounded good and was on pitch, and stopped with the pageant-y business. Sadly, I think I'm now off the Siobhan train and firmly on Crystal's.
"Crystal should win hands down... which means she probably won't. The judges are obviously partial to Michael and Lee. In my opinion, Lee is likeable but highly overrated as a performer. And there's something about Michael I just can't stomach. I always FF through his performance after the first few bars. And Casey (another favorite of the judges) is as boring as a bag of rocks. I just dont get his appeal. "
Lucsious
I am so with you on all counts. It may be another Carrie like year, where there was no competition to win. Crystal may just sail through. They seem to like the drama now and to see things like the old Kris win over Adam. (and use Arkansas voting to explain) It should have been Danny and Adam. still, Kris "needed" to win where Adam didn't. He was still the winner in everyone's eyes. I find the judges on and off with Michael though and far too complimentary of Casey. I cannot stomach Michael either. I still think for the guys Lee is the best (but i have a like for Andy's voice, where no one else does) a long time ago i saw an E! Special on Idol and Kimberley (forget her last name but final three with Clay, Ruben) said it was obvious who the judges were always complimenting and who they wanted to win.
another boo! from me for Kara too. her comments ugh! and yes, I like Tim. a lot. more for personality than voice.
That was Kimberly Locke Piper. I always thought the judges were waaaay to hard on her.
^^ Thanks. that's the one and yes you are right. Of course Simon said she was in with a shot when it was way late.
I liked Elliot Yamin's voice too and what did he come? third. I know why though. And it isn't just the judges.
ahhh...well i guess it may be Andy's time. I hope it is Michael though. I never liked his personality. too full of himself.
regardless, neither would win anyway.

When I saw the bottom two I knew it was either Andrew or no one.
I'm not into Mike, but he's still in the top half of the pack for me. I don't like the save but I can't see where else it would be better utilized. (I thought it was gonna go to Siobhan somewhere around top 5/6, honestly. Maybe that would have been better. Maybe not.)
They saved Mike? I changed the channel already. YAY! I had a feeling that if they were ever to use it, this would be the time. YAY!
I knew they wouldn't use the save on neck-tatt boy. But I'm not surprised they used it on Big Mike. I just hope it doesn't backfire on them and one of the faves isn't in the bottom in the next 2 weeks.

exactly what i was thinking. did Mike sing that song extremely differenty than he sang it the night before?
it may just backfire. bottom line is the "winner" won't go though.
I don't think anything can backfire on them. I'm still of the mind that they make the decisions.
I think they wasted the save. Granted Big Mike never hits a sour note and has consistantly turned in better performances that Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly, Tim Urban and Katie Stevens but I don't think he is all that likable. I find him so cocky and erksome...like his "Check me out on iTunes" comment. I wanted to vomit.
You could see the irritation on his face when he found out he was in the bottom two.

you can always see it if he is put off. i just don't like his attitude at all. i think they wasted it as well, buy maybe they thought there would be no one else to save in future, however, if by some strange twist if someone like Lee gets it, they will be stuffed.
edit- Didi is on Ellen and that is the stuff that made me really love her. she reminds me of Feist.
If I had to make a choice, I'd rather have an Idol who's a great singer with a lousy personality than one who lacks talent but is likable. I try to separate the person from the art. But not entirely, lol. I believe if you've got it, flaunt it!
^well Jane, you are right. based on the singing, he is fantastic and that cannot be denied.
i am sure he is likeable to most too, it is probably just a varied few who have a problem with him in that regard, and it really matters not when they are looking for an idol.
having said that, back when it was just Pop Idol a very big guy who eventually had to be let go due to illness, Simon had made a comment about being glad because his attitude was getting very hard to deal with. at the time i thought that it shouldn't really matter because he could really sing. so there, i am a hypocrit. lol
I wish they had just let Mike go.
I disagree that he is 'fantastic.' Solid, yes, but I think he lacks real star charisma and the voice is only adequate, IMO.
Maybe he'll be one of the two voted out next week.
Who has star charisma this season, Dolly?
Big Mike gets bigger and bigger with every passing week.

This season is so... blegh
Even though Matt Giraud wasn't my favorite last year, he IS really talented, and at least when he was saved it was SOOO sweet and everyone was SO SO ecstatic about it that it was like "awwwwwww okay at least the judge's save made for a really nice Idol moment "
This year it was like... they let Alex, Katelyn, and Lilly go in the semifinals, and then let Didi go, and NOW they're using the save on someone who's completely mediocre??
Sure, Mike isn't BAD or anything, but he's so cheesy that it gets annoying, and his voice isn't anything special at all!
I think what annoys me about this season is that it actually could have been a really GOOD season I think! With Katelyn, Lilly, Didi, Siobhan, Crystal.. it had a certain kind of "quirky girl, Lilith Fair" vibe going. And Alex had a LOT of potential to be a very strong male contender, probably even more so than Lee and Casey (even though Casey was great this week)
So yeah... it annoys me how this season with a lot of potential has become soooo mediocre
Aaanyway, ADAM next week!!
(I know some people are blowing a gasket about him mentoring- whatevah, I bet he's going to be awesome, and lord knows these kids NEED some lessons in how to own the stage like Adam did every single week last year)

Adam mentoring does not bode well for Idol's ability to pull celebrity mentors. But, at least it makes more sense than Miley. Adam can give advice specific to the arena they're in. Not only as someone who was on the show, but as someone who played the show and enjoyed doing so.
Adam will be a great mentor though. It doesn't bode well for Idol having the second place person from last season, perhaps but he is phenomenal and I think they may have had him anyway.
OK, I cannot believe there hasn't been any chatter going on with AI about to start w/Adam Lambert mentoring!!!
Is anyone excited about this???? I am!!!!
Did Ryan REALLY just tell Adam Lambert that Adam's "tongue was more talented than his".
Oh man, The Soup is going to have a field day with that comment!
