apparently she died of a drug overdose (drugs which were in Howard K. Stern's name). She choked on her own vomit following a (drug-induced) seizure.

They don't know what killed her. Could have been natural causes. They didn't find drugs in her stomach.
Edit: in watching the press conference, you realize how malicious the press actually is. They're not letting up with the drug questions.

Posted: 2/9/07 at 4:04pmNo drugs in her stomach and no drugs in her system are two different things. They said she had been throwing up. They are claiming she choked on her own vomit. I can't blame the press for not letting up. They don't like being lied to. She hasn't been sober in the last ten years or so.

They said on CNN people called/wrote complaining to them that there was too much coverage on Smith's death. They wanted more coverage on the war in the Iraq, etc.
All I have to see is please...we have all had enough of that war. This death is like a unsolved mystery right now, and the general public is very much interested in this right no, she was a HUGE and controversial name in the media.

I know I'm a little happy with the Salon.com articles on this site, but here is one from Cintra Wilson about ANS that is very much how I feel about the whole situation. Extremely well written.

"They can't seem to wrap themselves around the idea that she isn't theirs to abuse anymore, or that somewhere under the nipple-tape and lip-gloss, a human being is dead enough, now, to deserve a few seconds of more-than-just-token respect."
Abuse? Seriously? I mean, I certainly never wished her pain or harm, but let's be honest. The media didn't need to abuse her. They only had to turn on their cameras and make sure the mics were working. I mean, she even tried her own reality series and voluntarily broadcast her daily "struggle" with addiction (even if she refused to acknowledge it). I don't think she's quite the victim Cintra Wilson is trying to paint. Anna Nicole loved the spotlight and she continually sought it out for years.

This quote from the same article also goes down oddly with me.
What needs saying -- what it seems nobody has yet said -- is that when she was able to suppress her demons enough to pull herself together and look her best, she was fabulously gorgeous.
Why does that need to be said (and is "what needs saying" really good grammar?)? And what exactly does that prove, besides the fact that she cleaned up real good?
I really don't quite get the point of that article. Apparently, we're not supposed to acknowledge that she was simply famous for being famous and that in recent years her only schtick was broadcasting for all to see the disaster she seemed to become.
I mean, come on. Arguably her biggest claim to fame was that she married a billionaire sixty or so years her senior. That and her tv series. It's not like she was some poor little fool who got inadvertently dragged into the spotlight.
Yes, yes, it's sad when someone dies young, but people are carrying on like she should canonized.

Of course she did. That was where her bread was buttered. At least she knew enough to do that.

Sandra Burnhardt said it best...
"No one really dies in a puddle of their own vomit any more, do they?"
How very Jimi/Judy/Elvis of her.

Seriously? We've "had enough of" the war, so we shouldn't have to watch anything about it as long as there's a celebrity death mystery to keep us entertained? I know it's true, but it makes me worry about the state of society.

All of this misinformation surrounding her death is almost as tragic as the death. First it was drugs, then it was choking on her own vomit, then it was no drugs found in her stomach.
Poor Anna.

I'm not sure I get your meaning. So are you saying she doesn't deserve respect because she sought out the limelight?

Now Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband is saying he might be Daniellyn's father? WTF? This story gets more and bizarre by the hour...

I caught a little of Larry King last night on CNN and he showed a clip of an interview he had done with Anna Nicole back in 1993. Believe it or not, she was coherent and very well spoken, and actually quite attractive. It's amazing and sad how her life spiraled out of control.
But I'm happy that the leech, Howard L. Stern, isn't escaping any scrutiny, especially since he apparently has a television crew and reporter traveling with him since Anna's demise.

It is my theory that Howard K. Stern is responsible for the deaths of both Anna Nicole and her son, Daniel.
I think he sought to eliminate her and her heir so that he could somehow get his hands on the money she was to inherit from J. Howard's estate once it all was settled. If he has custody of that baby he will have access to the money.
He was her attorney after-all. She was so drugged up there at the end she didn't know if she was coming or going. There is no telling what kinds of documents he had her sign before her death. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that he inherits everything. I always thought he was scum.

Or, he could take out the baby, too...
