A small homage to David Tennant by my partner. We are big Who fans - I actually go back to the first doctor. The blog is in Spanish but there is a translator. Pass it on if you like it.

I read somewhere that instead of 12 consecutive episodes, they are doing 6 (with a cliff hanger) in the Spring and then 6 (with a cliff hanger) in the Fall.

Link or it isn't true. :P (Seriously, I don't want that to happen at all. I friggin' hate the long breaks between seasons enough as it is.)
Here ye go!

But, as Moffat pointed out, doing it this way lessens the wait between series and also the Christmas special. I think it's an interesting idea.
Spider, no comments on DT as Peter Vincent in Fright Night?
Reported on various sites: Doctor Who will be filming parts of episodes 1 and 2 in Utah -- and this includes cast members. No specifics other than it sometime in November.

Wow, no love for the Craig Ferguson Doctor Who special? I'm disappointed in your level of obsessiveness, guys. :)
I have it recorded, but I haven't watched it yet! It was on too late for me to stay up. I might not get to watch until tomorrow as I'm going to the Les Mis O2 Concert screening tonight. I did, however, see the Ferguson opening monologue from Monday -- the one with the Dalek. Very funny.
I have seen several comments on Twitter that indicate is was really good -- and apparently there was even a Doctor Who commercial during the show!
I haven't watched Craig Ferguson yet, but BBCA has announced that they will be airing the Christmas special on Christmas Day!
Hooray!
Not only that, we will get the Doctor Who Proms Concert as well on Christmas Day!!!!
Time to bump this to the top as the Special is fast approaching. BBCAmerica has some preview clips. You'll need to scroll down on the videos:

I didn't realize there was a Dr. Who thread. I'm so delighted! I'm still a bit new to the show, only watching whatever episodes they play on BBC America. Mostly I've been keeping up with the David Tennant seasons. I quite enjoy him as the Doctor. Haven't seen Matt Smith yet, but I'm looking forward to the Christmas special! Every time the commercial comes on for it I get more excited. (It's sad, really. I'm more excited for Dr. Who's Christmas Carol episode than Christmas itself).

I'm surprised that no one has commented on the Christmas episode. I, personally, loved it. I thought it was the best Christmas special to date, all though I still wish that Moffatt wasn't so CGI happy when the CGI looks really fake. But, other than that I give it two thumbs up!

I do think it had some flaws, but I like how it played with the Christmas Carol structure. And all three of the Kazrans were lovely.
I thought it was a really fun episode for Christmas Day- the 10th Doctor was always a little 'weighed down' at Christmas by whatever had just happened the previous season, and particularly with last years big dramatic (and very sad) end for 10, I really enjoyed this years fun fluffy story.
I agree Moffat is a bit CGI happy but the sometimes silly looking CGI fish worked with the tone of this ep-I mean cgi fish in fog, it's never going to look real anyway!
Matt Smith made the episode for me though, very funny throughout and completly endearing as the Doctor-for me it may be when he finally *became* the Doctor for me after a series of missing 10!
I finally got around to watching the Christmas special last night. I had planned to write up my thoughts about on my Tumblr, but Tumblr decided to eat my post, so here we are:
I really enjoyed Matt Smith as the Doctor. This is the first time I've seen him in the role, and I think he's great. It's hard to top David Tennant, but he takes the character and makes him fun and somewhat childlike, yet still keeping within that eccentric attitude.
As for the episode, I think it was a nice retelling of a classic story in a sci fi setting. It's hard to take a well known tale and sort of reinvent it. I like that there were the familiar aspects - the old miser (Kazran), "surplus population" (humans kept as collateral in coffin-like ice boxes) and of course the spirits (played by Amy and the Doctor). And while there were changes to the story itself - mostly with Abigail and her storyline, and how she and Kazran were before he grew old; also with the passengers in the ship that were hurtling to their death, somehow everything tied in to each other. The passengers were saved, the miser starts to have a change of heart, although I did like how it was a bittersweet conclusion.
The shark and fish were an interesting addition too, but they did seem to be a little over CGI-ed. Even so, this was a well done adaptation.

I was in upstate NY with my family, and their cable company doesn't carry BBCA, so I had to watch it in installments online. Going to watch is this week, but I thought it was great fun, and it made ma a bit weepy as well.
Well... it appears that 10 will marry his daughter... Seriously, this is lovely news.

Not a whoie (nor a trekkie or any other sci-fi series) fan here but I've just become aware of this:

As it is produced by BBC radio I think you will be able to listen to it from North America. An American professor postulates his theory that Dr Who is anti-American.
I haven't listened to this and am posting the link hoping it is
of interest and not offensive.
I'm surprised no one has posted this news yet. It's been announced that Series six of Doctor Who will begin on April 23 -- that is in the UK AND the U.S.!!!
Doctor Who Premiere Date
I'd missed that!
In the meantime we have the 'Comic Relief Dr Who Sketch on Friday, hooray!
Saw that, thanks to a link on Twitter. Very funny!!!
