There really is something about this show that just seems to appeal to everyone, which I guess is why it's so timeless.

And David Tennant seems to be quite the ladies man. I didn't realize that so much of his fan base is from Doctor Who.

I just finished the Shakespeare episode with the Witches and I laughed and laughed about the whole Harry Potter thing. Was that episode filmed before he appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? Anyone know?

The Shakespeare Code is one of my favorites. I liked the actor who played Shakespeare, and the whole thing was great fun. How about that scene where Shakespeare is flirting with Martha and the Doctor says something about visit now, flirt later, and Shakespeare responds with, "is that a promise, Doctor?" The Doctor's next line was very funny...

I think the number was higher, but yes, that was the funny line.


I'm trying to stay away from spoilers too now. I've seen just enough to whet my appetite for the last two shows, even though it means no more Tenth Doctor. Tennant said -- I think on BBC Breakfast -- that there are a lot more guest stars no one knows about... and I want to keep it that way.

Sorry, guys, I only just started watching Doctor Who so I've been on overload the past few days especially because the weathers been bad.

Last night i watched the two part episode where Doctor Who humanizes himself and falls in love. Oh my god, talk about ripping your freaking heart out. I'm not really a crying one, but my GOD, I was absolutely weeping. Especially when he saw the life he *could* have with her. What an amazing performance from David Tennant. You go, man.

I haven't really come with terms that he will be leaving yet, either. Just because I'm still only on season three. But knowing how fabulous an actor he is, I'm sure whatever happens next is going to be brilliant.

The scene where the watch shows them their life together if he stayed human has me sobbing every-single-time I see it. Also, the lightning fast switch from John Smith to the Doctor and back again floors me. That two-parter is among my favorite episodes.

Ms. Hynes is currently on Broadway in the Norman Conquests -- it's there for a 16 week run, and unfortunately for me, I don't think I can get up to NY to see it before it leaves.

I agree Sooner or Later -- as much as I hate the idea of DT leaving Who, it will be interesting to see what he will do next. Still got the fingers crossed that his Hamlet will be immortalized on DVD. It's looking very hopeful, but the RSC hasn't made a formal announcement yet. I also hope they will bring that production to this side of the pond, with the British cast intact.

I think you would have found it very difficult to get tickets for Hamlet when it was in London -- tickets were gone in a matter of 3 hours the day they went on sale!!! As it turned out, DT was out most of the London run because of a prolapsed disc in his back. Poor guy had to have surgery, and only did a few previews and the final week.

I'll be very interested to hear what you think of Blink -- it's another of my favorites for a different reason

I signed it too, and it well up over 7500 signatures by now. Both DT and the actor who was his understudy have mentioned the possibility of filming, and the RSC has been in semi-regular contact with the lady who started the petition keeping her as up to date as is possible on the status. Last message was pretty encouraging.

I agree with you about Family of Blood being a "turning point" so to speak regarding admiration for David's talent as an actor -- Brilliant indeed.

Can't wait to see Chrysanthemum's impressions on Blink.

Oh my GOD! I finished "Blink" and was so freaking scared by that! I think that is the most disturbing episode yet! Amazing! I swear, whenever I see one of those statues from now on, I'm gonna be all kinds of paranoid.

Seriously, after that I had to take a break from Doctor Who for a bit and started watching Blackpool. (Kec, thank you so much for the info! I have so much to watch now it's so exciting.)

And I love that Martha ends up having to get a job supporting the Doctor. Poor girl. I think I like her much more than I ever did Rose. They just seem to fit much better.

*sighs* His accent. Usually, I'm pretty good with understanding accents, but sometimes it's really hard for me to understand him. And it's not just his scottish accent, either. Sometimes, I can't understand what he says as the Doctor. I don't know, maybe it's because his voice is usually high pitched.

Spider I agree, that's why I love Donna so much-I loved that she wasn't in awe of the Doctor in the same way-yes she's amazed by what he shows her but she also wont take any nonsense from him'oi spaceman!'

I love 'Blink' too, though perhaps not one to watch late at night alone! We jokingly call our dog 'the angel' because she has a habit of freezing when you look at her then creeping up behind you when your back is turned!

And oooh Blackpool Morrissey and Tennant and Sarah Parish with musical type bits = heaven for this little geek!!

I agree, having never watch Catherine Tate's comedy show I *loved* that one.

I'm currently up to 'Midnight' in series four re-watching (which has taken me since Christmas what's wrong with me lol?!) which I loved even more second time around, it's like a play and I mean that as a compliment, it's all about the slow burn energy and atmosphere. Brilliant.

Got an e-mail from visitBritian with information on the locations where Dr. Who and Torchwood -- plus other shows that have aired on BBCA -- are filmed. Looks pretty interesting, and I've discovered I've actually been to a couple of places, i.e. Dyffryn Gardens (where I sat in the pouring raing watching Michael Ball in concert!)

"But the difference between Rose and Martha for me is that Martha always had her feet on the ground - travelling with the Doctor was never going to be her "forever", and her crush on him didn't change that. She had a life of her own and her own plans to be a doctor, and at no point was she going to abandon that for twu wuv."

I agree Plum. I've seen comments elsewhere claiming Martha acted like a love-sick schoolgirl, but except for the one instance in "Human Nature" where she talks about him falling in love but not with her, I don't recall any evidence of visible love-sickness. She faced it head on in her final speech to the Doctor, accepted the fact that he wouldn't return her feelings in the way she wanted, and "got out."

I, too, wish he could have retained his own accent when he took over the role. I really liked hearing it when I watched Blackpool.
