That was awesome! And the music was PERFECT. Oh man, I'm beyond obsessed.
Me too! Me too! I think I am going to go watch the second season again since it has been a while.

I can see why they chose him, there are quite a few physical similarities between him and David Tennant.
That's actually what worries me - the more similar he is to Tennant, the more likely people are to make comparisons, and we really don't need that. So I'm hoping for his sake that he's at least costumed completely differently.

I agree, Plum. Like I said, he is supposed to be a lot darker than Tennant so that will be a good disconnection. I just hope they don't go wacko on his wardrobe. ALSO, do they ever wash those clothes? After a while that outfit has GOT to smell like death ran over.

I'm sure they have more than one costume. :)
I just fineshed "Midnight" from the fourth series. That was creepy. Did not like seeing the Doctor just sitting there. Helpless.
I gotta say though, so far I'm not such a fan of them bringing Rose back. Not sure how I'm gonna feel when it all pans out, though.
How did you like Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead?

Oh, girl, I was all kinds of confused at first. I love that it was set in a library. The visuals for that were amazing. It was a little bit difficult for me to follow what was going on when the female archeologist came in. At first, I thought she was from the past instead of the future. But then she commented on him being so young. So then I thought she was his daughter. And then of course she whispered into his ear...and his face made that big puppy-dog eyes look. She knew his name, and apparently there's only one way he can tell her his name...so I'm assuming in the future she's more than just his "companion" and that he loves her. But I am just guessing away! So I still am confused about that, but it will be interesting to see if Steven Moffatt chooses to build on that in the future. *sighs* I loved her journal...that was so beautiful! I LOVE this show! I can't get enough of it!
And I am *so* excited about Matt Smith. As long as they are cool and give him the space to express himself, and not try to make him into a David Tennant clone, I'm gonna be there watching.

*cries* I've finished all of Season Four! Now what am I supposed to do!
go watch the one episode from this "season" :)

Your thoughts on the end? Did it break your heart?
I saw your comment about the Unicorn and the Wasp over on the DT board -- wasn't that just hysterical?!

I loved how they ended it. It was so sad, but at least she was able to go back to her life and not realize she was missing out on something special. I loved how he just said he was gonna go, and she just brushed him off. Cause she was gonna be just fine.
I'm not sure how I felt about Rose and her single-hearted Doctor. That was just weird for me. Especially because she still wasn't happy.
And I really did love that part in The Unicorn and the Wasp! Especially because that actually shocked ME. Her kissing him was the last thing I expected to happen. I thought she was gonna smack the crap out of him, not kiss him. Which of course made it one of those great comedic moments.
Aw, yay. I know a lot of people don't like Rose (Plum. hehe) but I get a little fan girlish whenever I see them together. The Doctor just seems so happy.
RE: Silence in the Library, technically Prof. River Song is not from the future but from his future. I love that little time-warp-brain-***k.

I see what you mean about it being in *his* future. I hadn't thought about it that way.
Can I just say how much I hate they are delaying David Tennant's departure over the course of this year. I think they should just rip it off quick like a band-aid and move on to Matt Smith. The more time they give people to whine over him leaving, the harder it will be.

I think the "year off" is at least partly due to budget problems. That's definitely why Torchwood had its season order reduced. And sadly, I think it may be a big reason why they hired a young unknown like Matt Smith rather than an experienced character actor like Eccleston or even an up-and-comer like Tennant. I'm not saying Smith won't be good - it's just kind of disappointing that things had to go that way.
I'm kind of inclined to believe the 'offical line' of giving a year off to keep intrest-I think there is a wariness of going down the road of Classic Who and saturating the market and people getting fed up. Torchwood is another matter, who knows what the Beeb is thinking with that one, if they were going to kill it off why not let it go at the end of last season? I guess that one's a waiting game!
I do agree that Matt Smith's casting can't have hurt the budget-Graham Norton joked at the BAFTA's that Tennant had been replaced with 'someone younger *cough* cheaper' lol
David Tennant news... he's apparently going to be the new host of Masterpiece Contemporary starting this fall on PBS.

Thanks for sharing that!
"Who is the new host" Does that tagline make anyone else cringe?
The tagline was a bit cheezy, but it made me laugh.
I thought part of the break also had to do, at least in part, with the changing of the guard in the production team.

I dont know...why couldn't they just say "David Tennant, actor in Doctor Who is new host."? I just hate it when people are like "Whe have Doctor Who himself here" blah blah blah. It's a JOB people. That's what the person does for a living. Sure, they are compinsated well, but they work their ass off and make all kinds of crazy sacrifices because it's their JOB. I just feel like saying "we have Doctor Who here" takes something away from all the work the person does as an actor. And minimizes the fact that it's a JOB. No wonder people have a hard time with drawing a line between the two, cause that's how the media spins it. Doctor Who just happened to be a stop in his career, just one of many. Sure it's important, but it's not what defines him.
*ends rant* I am so sorry, I have no idea where that came from. I just felt the need to say it, and I don't even know why.
And back to the haiatus from hell topic.
Yeah, I keep forgetting that RTD is moving on too. So I guess the good thing is this haiatus will give SM more time to really create a new story and web things together. Time to make it completely new, and all his own. So he doesn't feel rushed in anyway, and can give it his full artistry. I hadn't really thought of it that way.
WHAT THE?!?!? HAHAHAHA

...My roommate may or may not have knitted and stuffed a Dalek which is now sitting next to our television.
I ADMIT NOTHING.
And as for the typecasting - I'd feel bad for Tennant, but I think he takes a real delight in the Who stuff even now. Still, I really wonder what his career will be like after this. Eccleston had a long and prestigious career in the UK before Who and only stayed for 1 year and he's still labelled as an ex-Doctor in practically every media mention of him there. Tennant was just rising to prominence when he got cast as the Doctor. It'll be interesting to see what happens to him from here on out.

John Barrowman has a new show, "Tonight's the Night," in which people's dreams come true, i.e. the first episode featured a young woman who wanted to play Tracey in Hairspray. On June 23, a young man named Tim got his wish to be in a Doctor Who scene come true:

Aww, the hand knitted Ood is so freaking cute!
And that video cracks me up! John Barrowman with the prop gun going "bang bang" is very nearly priceless.
