Absolutely. I'll probably OD on the coverage like I did four years ago. I'm not really into sports-watching, but I love the Olympics.

Same here. At first I'm usually overwhelmed by the amount of coverage, but as the games go on I get really into them. And I always prefer the summer Olympics.
I'll be watching the swimming competitions (go Phelps!).
What competitions are you guys most excited about?
I've never really had any interest, but as I've gotten older started to appreciate them more. I plan on checking out a selection of things. Though, if the trash mags keep featuring the attractive men of the Olympics like they have this month, I will be tuning in for even more! lol
Our entire family is excited about the Olympics! My biggest concern is NBC; they're an awful network in general, but they absolutely butcher sports programming. And Bob Costas may be the only person on the planet as annoying as Alex Trebek.
As for the sports, where to start? Soccer, volleyball, swimming/diving, track & field, and so on.
But what really makes the Olympics are the lesser known sports that we only focus on every four years, like curling in the winter games. In the summer, it's water polo, equestrian, team handball, ping pong, and rowing/kayaking.
The sports I can less about are boxing/wrestling and basketball
I am looking forward to women's football. The US team is pretty amazing. This is my first Olympics outside the US.
Big Olympics fan here, summer and winter, since I was a kid!
I'm always astounded at the passing of time...was it really 4 years ago that Phelps won 8 gold medals?!
Janet Evans is really 40?!
Love all of the events and watch all that time permits. I predict 3 weeks of bleary mornings. Water polo tends to come on after the news.
I started searching for an app for my phone and ipad, but havent found one yet. I expect, since there are still so many trials going on that they are waiting to know who's on the team.
I'm like Phyllis and Taz. I watch NO sports, have no interest in any sports, but I try not to miss a minute of the olympics. Go figure.

I'm looking forward to men's gymnastics. Olympic trials are this weekend for both the men's and women's teams.
I'm into gymnastics. Mostly the women. I'm so sad that Shawn Johnson had to retire, but I know it was for a good reason and the right thing to do.

With the changes to the age requirements for women's gymnastics it is becoming an increasingly one Olympic event for many of the top athletes these days. There was some initial speculation that you would start to see older women (and by older I mean above 20) competing because of that, but the teams are still made up mostly of the 16 to 19 year olds.
Poor China, though, is going to have a much harder time passing off underage athletes now that they aren't on their home turf.
I love the Olympics! I love swimming and diving.I always think I won't watch the second week, which is the big track and field events, and then I get totally involved. I get so emotional during the games. I cry at the medal ceremonies. yeah, I know..I'm a nerd.
I also heard with the gymnastics that the team will only be 5 now instead of 6 or 7 like it has in the past. I'm really anxious to see who ends up going. I have a feeling Jordyn Weiber probably will be in. Unless she totally screws up this weekend.
"Politically or sportswise??"
What's the political agenda?
I enjoy the olympics! I love the swimming and diving and gymnastics the best. For winter olympics I like the ski jumping, hockey and figure skating.

"What's the political agenda?"
Wether capitalism or communism breeds better athletes, and is therefore the superior system.
I am really into sports, so naturally, the Oympics are one of my favorite things. As a longtime fan of Phelps, I have enjoyed following his career and I hope he does well. However, I am most excited about Lochte. I think he is really going to stand out. I am sure NBC will hype Phelps vs. Lochte every chance they get. I'm already pretty amped about it. It should be good.
Oh, yes - I'll watch as much as I can.
I'm a track and swim freak with aspirations for Rio (unlikely as they may be) - and I can't wait for this year's games! I have an interest in all the events except for boxing.
U.S.A! U.S.A!
The opening ceremony sounds, um, interesting. Do they really need to wheel Paul McCartney out again?
LOVE watching both the Summer and Winter Olympics. I'm always psyched for the swimming, and am looking forward to seeing Missy Franklin swim. I also would love to see Rebecca Adlington repeat her 400 and 800 meter freestyle victories at home.

I love the Olympics because they air sports that aren't usually shown on television! I'm so tired of the usual football, basketball, baseball, soccer, the occasional tennis, etc. This year, I aim to watch it as much as I can!

One of the funniest snl skits EVER.
"Hey, YOU,
I know you
I know you!
Love, love, love the Olympics!
I'll be watching. (And will be there for part of it!)
Yes the gymnastics team will be 5. I honestly don't know if any of the past members will make it. I think Gabby Douglass, Jordyn Weiber, and Aly Raisman are locks for the team. I'd like McKayla Maroney, but since her concussion at Nationals we'll have to see how she does. Kyla Ross is a fierce competitor and could snag a spot. I'd also watch for Elizabeth Price to be a dark horse on the team. I don't want Nastia to make it again, I don't know how she has made it this far after taking 3 years off and not competing a full bar routine since Beijing, though she had a full set in podium training today. It's definitely going to be between Rebecca Bross and Nastia for the spot (which could be an alternate spot), I love me some Alicia Sacramone, but if McKayla healed well Alicia may be an alternate since she and McKayla are pretty interchangeable with vault and beam.
I love gymnastics.

Gymnastics trials are starting on NBC now.
I always forget how much warmer Marta Karolyi comes across as opposed to Bela. Sure he had his moments (the 96 medal ceremony, obviously) but there was always that task master scariness about him.
Really looking forward to the games, but also the opening ceremony! It will be tough to compete with Beijing, but with Danny Boyle and Stephen Daldry directing, I think it should still be a good ceremony
