I always get into the big Apple announcement days as my home and office is all in the "Apple Ecosystem". ( Thanks Craig for that term). Not so much into buying their latest anymore .. But I am always fascinated. Trying to find a link to watch the announcement of new products on the web. Anyone have a link?

I'm a big Apple fan, as well. Even though I can't really type on my iPhone...
Anyway, DAME, here is a great live blog by Mashable covering the event: http://mashable.com/2013/09/09/apple-iphone-event-live-blog/

My iPhone 4 is giving it up. The home button barely recognizes my touch anymore. It's like a marriage that has lost its spark. It might be time to go for a newer, younger model in champagne with a 12 mp camera.

Wow. They're going over the new iOS7 right now. Looks and sounds incredible. Eagerly waiting for more updates, specifically about the new iPhone (time to upgrade).

Thanks for the links! Namo.. try a reset.
I must be one of the few who is going to try to hang onto my iPhone 4 as long as I can because I don't want to get rid of my unlimited data plan (I'm grandfathered in from my previous contract renewal).
I didn't even download the last software upgrade on my phone because it made my iPad crash and lose a lot of data.
Watching a live feed on CNET.

Millie, I have a 4 also and have been grandfathered in on the unlimited data plan. If I get the new phone, I won't be able to keep that?

They're reviewing the (new) cheaper option right now. iPhone 5C. Great for those not looking to splurge. Only $99 for the 16GB model.

I can't imagine you would have to get rid of your plan.
I was grandfathered into my unlimited play when I renewed and upgraded to a 5 in February.
I'm curious, does your 4G mobile plan for iPhone/iPad limit you to networking only Apple hardware? I know very little about the Apple ecology.
I'm thinking of buying a Verizon aircard to connect a home network to the Internet. ADSL sucks and Comcast cable in my county sucks even more. FIOS is still not available in my neighborhood either.

New finger sensor built into the home button to open it up. No more pass codes or swiping to unlock your phone. WOW!!! And you can use the same sensor to make purchases, rather than put in all of your apple account information.
Is there a different plan for iPhones? I recently got a new Galaxy Note II with a new plan from Sprint and they offer unlimited data. I know they offer iPhones, but I assumed the plans were the same for either.

I believe Sprint is the only US carrier that still offers an unlimited data plan. AT&T still has a number of grandfathered in on the old unlimited plan (myself included), and we never know for sure how long that will last. I'm not sure whether Verizon has forced people into the new tiered plans as they sign new contracts or not, since I'm not with them.
Matt here are the plans for the iPhone 5. I don't know if they will now change for the 5S and 5C.
You can compare plans from different carriers.

I am with Verizon and I am grandfathered in.
Nothing I have seen today makes me want to upgrade. I will stick to my 4S. If they had any significant upgrade to the battery I might consider. Not even convinced the camera is that much better.

It seems the camera has the same 8 megapixels as the 5. But since my 4 is crapping out anyway, it is time to replace.
Do it Namo. Are you going for the cheap one or classic?

It's all so weird. They want to sell you a gold phone and a $39 case that essentially covers up its golden-ness.
Agreed. It makes no sense. The iPhones are so sleek but everyone ( and rightly so) covers them up with cases.
Hmmm, from what I heard they stopped grandfathering people after last summer. By the time I could get a new phone, the iPhone 5 was out. By that time, there was nothing wrong with my phone and nothing significant enough for me to upgrade my phone.
Here is an article about it from last year:

Let me also clarify that you are not eligible for unlimited data if you upgrade your phone at the discounted rate. If you buy your phone at full retail price, then it looks like you can keep your unlimited data. At least that is what I am understanding.
DAME, when did you upgrade your phone? Or did you buy it at full price or upgrade before the new policy was laid out?
Will the new iOS be compatible with 4S?

In regards to the cases, they know there are a good number of people who buy these and then baby them in every possible way so that they can get the highest resale value on Craigslist/ebay when the next model comes out next year.
I'll be upgrading this year, but not sure which model. I like the black/space-gray on the 5S (reminiscent of the original phone), but 32 gigs for $149 is a bit tempting. I guess I'll have to see how they look in person (as I'm not planning on upgrading until December or so).
