Atlas Shrugged

Wow, impotence sure makes old men bitter.
#27

Atlas Shrugged

Hey, yeah, the Obama coke party- I heard George W. Bush was a guest.

I guess the Obamas are practicing Ayn Rand's "individualism" philosphy. It's just that they only want it for themselves and Rand envisoned it for everyone.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Holy Disappearing Posts Batman ...

In case it does not come up, my point was that according to Goth's description, Obama has turned into a fine Republican.

Rand envisioned nothing. But she made christian assholes like you feel good about being selfish.

Like the President, Ayn Rand was a lifetime smoker. When she was dying of cancer she had NO PROBLEM having the US government pick up the tab for her treatments, saying Doctors earned a lot more than novelists.
#32

Atlas Shrugged

"But she made christian assholes like you feel good about being selfish."

I'm sure. Rand was an atheist by the way, so probably the exact opposite of who Christians would be listening to.

Aren't Republicans the exact opposite of who Christians should listen to?
#34

Atlas Shrugged

Yeah I just can't see Jesus getting behind tax cuts to the rich so that you can cut Head Start. Paul Ryan's "Road map" calls for the lowest tax rate in 70 years.

Oops sorry I had to check that to make sure it was right- it wasn't. Ryan's tax rate would be the LOWEST EVER for the top bracket. My (Your) taxes would not go down. 75% of the cuts would be made to programs that assist people at or below the poverty level- Head Start, school lunches, WIC, Medicare, Medicaid, PELL grants, you know, all that crap. But we would STILL put federal dollars into NASCAR! BOOYAH!
#35

Atlas Shrugged

NO FEDERAL FUNDS FOR NASCAR! I am so sick of this country subsidizing NASCAR on demand.

Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand was a fiercer defender of a woman's unfettered right to have an ABORTION:

"I cannot project the degree of hatred required to make those women run around in crusades against abortion. Hatred is what they certainly project, not love for the embryos, which is a piece of nonsense no one could experience, but hatred, a virulent hatred for an unnamed object...

"Their hatred is directed against human beings as such, against the mind, against reason, against ambition, against success, against love, against any value that brings happiness to human life. In compliance with the dishonesty that dominates today's intellectual field, they call themselves 'pro-life.'"

— Ayn Rand

Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand used the twisted logic of the ANTI-ABORTION lunatics to illustrate what was lazy and stupid in contemporary thought:

"One method of destroying a concept is by diluting its meaning. Observe that by ascribing rights to the unborn, i.e., the nonliving, the anti-abortionists obliterate the rights of the living."

--Ayn Rand
#38

Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand REJECTED the weak ascription of legal rights--let alone MORAL rights--to the non-human thing called an "EMBRYO":

"An embryo has no rights. Rights do not pertain to a potential, only to an actual being. A child cannot acquire any rights until it is born. The living take precedence over the not-yet-living (or the unborn).

--Ayn Rand

#39

Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand believed that the only person who should have anything whatsoever to say about whether or not a woman had an abortion...WAS THE WOMAN HERSELF!

Not YOU, Goth. NOT Newt Gingrich, NOT the Supreme Court. And CERTAINLY NOT the man some call "pope":

"Abortion is a moral right—which should be left to the sole discretion of the woman involved; morally, nothing other than her wish in the matter is to be considered. Who can conceivably have the right to dictate to her what disposition she is to make of the functions of her own body?"

--Ayn Rand

Rand was never my god. You will also notice that I said in the original post that Rand's philosophy was not perfect.

"After her husband has chowed down on waffles and burgers and puffed his ciggies and snorted coke, and after she and her girls gorged on ribs and smacked their lips over their Wednesday night socials, it's a wonder you had anything left. The only thing that stops this country from becoming a Communist country is that Obama is too busy playing golf and running to the Lincoln Memoral to take credit for stuff he didn't do to do any real damage."

Yeah - because George Bush worked 365/24/7. And Bush never took credit for thing that he never did. Or didn't take the credit for thing he screwed up.

Gotham - are you new to politics?

^^^ But, but, but Bush... Let it go, he's no longer in office. Additionally, the country was much better off when he was in office.

but nothing.

You're trying to minimize what Obama is and is not doing. That's your right. Just as it's my right to illustrate that this is nothing new.

"Better off" is a matter of opinion.

Atlas Shrugged

""Better off" is a matter of opinion."

No, it's a fact. Democrats were supposed to prepare a budget and didn't. So all this angst is because they didn't do their job.

The US got involved in Libya even though Obama has yet to deliver us from the other conflicts the US is involved with. The national debt is higher than ever before. Gas prices are higher than ever before. The unemployment numbers are still too high for what Obama promised. Just admit it, we're worse off now than we were when Bush was in office.

#46

Atlas Shrugged

If you live in bubble perhaps.

But we don't.

And where we are today is a sum of where we were in the past to get to the point we are today. You want to blame Obama (alone) for the ills we're in now. Ok. Go ahead. Makes PERRRRRFECT logical sense...

This is why Goth has zero credibility in my opinion. The country was so great under Bush/Cheny. LOL!

Goth seems to be under the impression that when a new president enters office, it's a tabula rasa and all the previous administration's failings vanish.

Kad-

That - and that the president is actually a dictator and there are no checks and balances at ALL in our government. So clearly one person makes every decision that succeeds and fails on his/her own.

Unless of course there is a major act of terrorism that you were warned about and ignored - then it is your predecessors fault.

BTW, the stock market closed at 7,920.66 on the day Obama was sworn in to office. At that time, we were over shedding 700,000 jobs a month.

Goth must follow the John Kyl version of facts.
