With Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" opening this weekend, it seems the appropriate time to revisit her beliefs on individualism. While her belief system wasn't perfect, it certainly is a counterbalance for the garbage that is demonstrated at the link.

Don't forget, too, that Ayn Rand too in Barbara and Nathaniel Blumenthal- a young couple who had read and enjoyed her books. Ayn mentored the couple and soon considered them her children- in fact, they changed their name to Branden- using the Hebrew word "Ben" (son of) with her name Rand. Ayn began to refer to Nathaniel as her "Heir" and he was made the head of her Institute, doing public appearances when she was too busy writing. Then Ayn called a meeting and told her husband and Nathaniel and Barbara that she & Nathaniel were soul mates and would be having sex two afternoons a week. No wonder Newt Gingrich admires her so.

I'm not inventing the vilification of healthy food options for children. Even in your link a commenter is railing against Michelle Obama for her healthy eating campaign. The article also says the food at the school has become more healthy over the past year. Did you even read it?

MB - the only logic I could see from the school's program is if there are serious allergy issues in the school that they are trying to control.

Even then, I think the program goes to far ...

I don't think they hate Mrs.O, sure to them politics is only a sport. I doubt they even know how they actually feel about anything, their minds are so concentrated on what their base wants.
