Britney Spears Files for Divorce

Britney Spears has filed a petition for divorce from Kevin Federline.

Spears filed legal papers today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." In her petition, Spears asks for both legal and physical custody of the couple's two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights.

As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Sept. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees.

Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events."

There is no doubt in my mind that the break-down of this marriage was caused by Gays being able to marry in Massachusetts. What other reason could there be?

And I thought these two would last. It's funny, because K-Fed only got about 300 people at his concert the other night at Webster Hall. The venue was going to cancel it, but he talked them out of it.

She only did it because Witherspoon did it. They forgot that Jessica beat both of them to the punch. So who is the next blonde Hollywood girl to get divorced. It's all the rage now.

What I want to know is what are his children going to think when they are old enough to realize that their daddy is a loser? You know, ever since I read the interview she did in Bazaar I've kind of been quietly rooting for her. She's 24. People make stupid mistakes in their early 20's. I'm just glad this one can be fixed.
