I've been spending too much time on all of this stuff. I've been sick for 2 weeks and haven't been to school, so I'm also very behind in that. I have had a great time with all of you though. I am sick of people dropping out, or letting this contest control them. It is for fun. Do your best on a song, yes.
But it should be taking you maybe an hour to do this. Sing it two or three times and send it in. The four hours, or allowing this to overtake your life, is too much.

Once we have the theme, we have to find a song, which could mean singing a few of them into a tape recorder to see if we can find one that might work for our voices. Then we have to learn the song, rehearse it, and since none of us have studios and engineers, they have to be recorded in one long live take - no stopping and starting and fixing. When it's recorded, as opposed to a live stage performance, you hear every nuance, every mistake, every not-perfectly-performed note. This is a competition and we all want to be as perfect as possible. An hour is completely unrealistic.

Word, sp78. I understand that people spend hours on this and I appreciate the effort - no one can say I don't spend hours working on this too. But it's not NECESSARY to spend hours or days on a song. And JFTR, when it gets down the final few people, the songs increase to two per "show".
And to clarify, this isn't to diminish the effort that people go through - I think the people who spend hours on it are pretty discernable from the people who don't. I'm just saying I'd rather someone submit a ****ty clip for one round than to quit. It pisses ME off because I've spent so much time to work out the rounds and the themes that it's as if it's taken forgranted.
