Rath, I understand that you feel that way, but honestly it sounds as though you are taking the message board contest thing too seriously. You are little different, because people know you and it is "what you do" so you don't want to lose respect by doing it.
All those things you talk about are nice, and I am sure they make you sound better, so you will have a better chance to win. But they do not seem "necessary"
I still agree with Tiff. It would seem better to turn in a crappy clip, than to quit.
And I stand by what I said, some of you are not doing this for fun, and are spending far too much time on it. If it is causing trouble in your real life, if not more power to you, spend as much time as you want.
Or, perhaps when I make a commitment I like to follow through to the absolute best of my ability.
The show must go on people!
No, seriously we all understand that you guys are not going to be able to turn in the highest quality clips.
When it comes down to it, I just want to hear you guys sing. You can throw out the scores for all I care.
As I said, I understand what you are doing. I understand you want to do well and that takes effort.
You are not really the one who has complained about it eating away at the rest of your life anyway.
I'm with Rath on this one.
It takes a few minutes for you guys to hear it, but a LOT of time goes into these clips, even ones like mine, which haven't even been that well received. Finding the right song in itself is a big task, then getting the perfect take is tedious.

The commitment is greatly appreciated..
tis all I have to say
That's because it's not, sp. I'm fortunate enough to have the time to do this.
I am concerned about it turning into two songs a week down the road, if I'm still in. That's going to be hard!
SP- I never said it was eating away at my life. My time is just better spent working on my college audition repertoire and not posting on BWW and BWW Idol...especially when I want to be a Classical Vocal Performance Major. These schools cost around $50,000 and I have GOT to get merit scholarship money which all depends on my audition. I know and appreciate how much time Tiff, Cam, BSo, and everyone have put into it, but I also have to do what I have to do.
I appreciate the commitment as well. I can't imagine how you will be able to do two songs in a week.
Of course, I am not an idiot, I know it takes much more time to turn in a clip than to listen to one.
I think people should find the balance that works for them.
Again, Jesus F. Christ - it's not to diminish the effort and time that goes into producing good clips. The amount of work shows on the recording and like Cam said, it's appreciated by us - I wouldn't have set up this contest if I thought I'd be listening to half-ass mediocre singing for the duration.
On the other hand, I would get very irked if people dropped out because they "didn't have time" when I see them posting all over the boards and IMing me incessantly - that time being wasted could've gone towards making a decent clip. So to pull something like that and then not follow through on your more pressing commitments would get me very angry because I've had to make time sacrifices as well to keep this thing going.

*gives Tiff Internet chocolate*
Diva- That is also perfectly understandable. I am sorry you are dropping out though.
I want to be clear here:
I am not trying to demean anyone, or to question the reason for their commitment to this particular endeavor.
I appreciate the work you are all doing and love listening to the results.
I am sure the end results are better because of the time and commitment of the players.
Keep doing what you are doing, you are great.

I have to get mine recorded tonight, because I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and I won't be back until Monday or Tuesday. *headdesk*
*sings another take*
I really, REALLY want to marry Akiva.
*continues with regularly scheduled discussion*
Unfortunately as of this week the Conservatives are in power, so even if I consented (or was rufeed) that won't be possible for much longer.

Ooo Another new av Jaily...
I have a huge apartment. You can live here, Akiva.
I was going through some photos I forgot I had and scanned this one in...this was the height of my Swedishness. I look SO much like my mother in this pic...
Ooo old photos... I should look through mine.. I'm sure I could dig up some really entertaining ones
I hate how this pic makes me look like I have wide hips, though...I was REALLY skinny, and this pic totally makes me look like a fat fat fatfatty!

Threadjack: Tonight I ran into a friend of mine from childhood (who I had the biggest crush on) and he has become insanely, phenomenally, infinitely BEAUTIFUL. But, alas, gay. DAMN YOU ALLLLLLLLLL!!! We would have had such beautiful babies...

there is no way.... how old are you now, 25ish?
25 indeed. I had just turned 23 when that pic was taken.
Are you saying I look old, haggard, worn, tired, and beat to **** by life, my dear?

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying you haggard, old bastard. You're still totally screwable, however.
