Yankees!!!

"does anyone remember (or care) that last year in game 7 (I think) of the ALCS when the Red Sox were batting late in the game, Yankee Stadium had police in riot gear -riot gear - on the field (first base side) to protect the team from fans."

I was at that game... my mom called me to make sure I wasn't throwing stuff onto the field.

And go Yankees, 13 runs in one inning??????????

Yankees!!!

13 in ONE INNING?!?!?! Is that some sort of record?!?

Plum, I love the Walken "cow bell" episode of SNL. "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell!" "Gotta have more cowbell." Yankees!!!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Yankees!!!

I doubt that's a record. I remember the Rangers and Tigers combined for 18 runs in one inning last year. But still, dude. 13 runs. Hee.

And guys, we should be seriously grateful this isn't international soccer. I've heard of them playing games with no spectators because they're afraid of what will happen if they let fans in.

Yankees!!!

I just read on the Yankees website that it tied a record for most runs scored in a single inning.

Yankees!!!

Tied with Cleveland in '77 or something, yes?

I have no idea why I remember these things.

Yankees!!!

From Yankees.com:
The 13-run inning was the most for the Yankees since June 21, 1945, when they scored 13 in the fifth inning of a 14-4 win at Boston. Monday marked just the third time they have scored 13 in an inning, the first at Yankee Stadium. The 11 hits in the frame are the most in a single inning by the Yankees since they did it on April 11, 1987, at Kansas City.

The club record for runs in an inning is 14, which the Yankees did on July 6, 1920, against Washington at the Polo Grounds.

Yankees!!!

Oh, a team record (kinda). Okay.
#283

Yankees!!!

Cubs down 7-5.
#284

Yankees!!!

Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!!
#285

Yankees!!!

I know it's not saying much (these are the Rays, after all), but A-Rod is an absolute monster tonight. Hopefully this will raise the whole lineup's confidence and get the team into a bit of a groove.
#286

Yankees!!!

Yeah, I guess it was a team record. I didn't initially read the whole article, and the header made it sound like a league record...maybe it was a league record for runs scored in the second inning (it said record for the frame, or something like that).

ETA: 6-7 on the Cubs game now...2 on, 1 out. Mounting a comeback?

Big win? Woohoo, now they are what, 4 and 9000000000000?

Yankees!!!

L - we lived at the corner of Kenmore and Grace in 1990. We also lived on Waveland for a tim. Such fun. (except for parking on a Saturday morning when you just wanted to go to the Jewel.)
#293

Yankees!!!

I understand completely, I know where that is. Not too far from me!
#294

Yankees!!!

Come on, you punks. You finally get a decent pitching performance and magically forget how to hit? Give RJ some support already!
#295

Yankees!!!

Eh, it's not looking pretty on my end either. Poor Bronson. The boy can't catch a break. They take him out in the 8th w/ an 3-1 lead, and Embree's given up a 2 run homer already (w/ no outs). Blech.

Yankees!!!

For the love of everything holy, hit the ball. This isn't friggin' Pedro Martinez you're facing, here.
#297

Yankees!!!

Well, it looks like the Yankees have been out-hitting the Devil Rays. I guess they just haven't been timely hits.

Tied up at 3 in the 9th on my end. Come on Foulke!!!

Cubs up 7-1..
#299

Yankees!!!

Yankees down 5-2. I was supposed to go to this game but had to teach tonight. Looks like I may chosen a good game to miss if they keep this up!

Yankees!!!

Classic Jeter game. All bat, no glove. *sigh* And this time the bat wasn't all that helpful.
