Yankees!!!

Why do the yankees suck so bad this season???
I have tickets for Sunday, and I want to see them win!!!!
#327

Yankees!!!

Sorry L - Cubs win 3-2 in Houston.
#328

Yankees!!!

Ack. The Yanks are finally pitching well, so of course their lineup decides to stop functioning. I'm a bit worried about Posada- he started catching relatively late, but he's still 33 years old and off to a bad start. *sigh* There's still hope. Everything just looks extra bad because it's early in the season.

Yankees!!!

I was at the game on Thursday -- I felt bad for my younger brother, who is a harcore Yankee fan, but he didn't seem to disappointed. And Plum, you're right, everything looks extra bad because it's early.

Yankees!!!

I think it will wirk out in the end, early season kinks and rust at the moment. I'm trying to get to game within the next couple of weeks!
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Yankees!!!

I am wondering when Mount Seinbrenner will blow. It will be monumentous when it happens.

They are horrendously bad. Part of the blame is Steinbrenner paying big bucks instead of playing hungry youngsters. Their farm system has been depleted in bad trade after bad trade. Now the cupboard is bare down their & they will suffer the consequences for years to come as the old team continues to age in front of us.

My wife & I go Sunday only because my brother in law got us the tickets free. I do not go to games anymore as they have priced themselves out of existence - this is before you get mugged by the prices for hot dogs & beer etc

Yankees!!!

They are not horrendously bad- it's just that when the lineup works, the pitching doesn't, and vice versa. The team just isn't clicking right now. I still say they can recover from this bad start if they can just get everything to be at least semi-functional simultaneously.

This is, of course, dependent on my assumption that Mike Mussina and Jorge Posada have not completely lost it. If they have, this team's in deep...well, you know.

And Mt. Steinbrenner has already had an eruption; he yelled at them a week or two ago.
#333

Yankees!!!

Plum, if you think he will not erupt again you are wrong

Look for Steinbrenner to start firing key people around Torre so he will be left holding the bag by himself with no one to defend him. I think Curious George really wants Torre out & by doing the above may force him to quit & than comes a complete housecleaning - maybe even a fire sale for prospects if they are out of it by July

10 years is a long time to manage any baseball team. To manage the Yankees for that period of times borders on a miracle . I think Torre is running out of time. He has a lot of high price talent with long term deals who get paid their megabucks whether they produce or not.

The pitching staff is old, Bernie is fading fast & Jorge may have seen his best days. The less said about Giambi the better. Instead of having Nick Johnson for the future they have a broken down Giambi. Sheffield is on the tail end of his career. Instead of having to plug a few holes here & there the whole team may need to be replaced soon.

If Torre were smart, he would announce his retirement now for this seasons end. This way, his immunizes himself from Steinbrenners attacks . In the event they turn it around, he could always recant. I think that Torre knows this is a fast aging team @ most positions & does he really want to be in a dilema next year

This is a soap opera which could be called " As The Stomach Turns". Time will tell

Go Angels...even though the best players have left..
What the puck?!
#335

Yankees!!!

I really hope the Yankees can pick up their game. I'd hate to disappoint all the kids I'm bringing to the game tomorrow for work
#336

Yankees!!!

Out of all the staff members on the team, I think Stottlemeyer should be the one to go. He's well-liked, but I don't think he serves the pitching staff too well. Also, Torre needs a bench coach he'll listen to who will be able to counteract his weaknesses, like never trusting young players.

And if I had my way, the Tampa brainless trust would be gone so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.
#337

Yankees!!!

Look for me on TV today everyone! I'll be the one with 25 7th graders killing each other with the bats (from Bat Day)! Let's go Yankees!
#338

Yankees!!!

Liotte You are taking your school kids to BAT DAY!
Do you have a death wish?
Have fun though and maybe the Yanks can pull out a win!
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.
#339

Yankees!!!

I didn't know it was bat day when I got the tickets!
At least the other school trip I am taking is a beanie baby day, much better. Hope I survive today though!
#340

Yankees!!!

Beanie Baby day seems a lot safer.
I think you can make it through but I'll be hoping for your safety the whole time!
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.
#341

Yankees!!!

Ack! And they were actually looking pretty good today...

Posada, hit the damn ball.
#342

Yankees!!!

Well, the Yankees lose again. Big surprise. But I got a bat, which was pretty cool. And the kids had fun, and it was nice out. So all in all, a good day (except the losing part).

Yankees!!!

This team is bad

Bernie has simply lost it. He looks hopelessly lost @ the plate. Jorge is not much better. Pavano was rotten today & the bullpen was abysmal.

I give it 2 more weeks of this nonsense (George being preoccupied by the Derby) before MT Steinbreener explodes again & I think heads will roll this time. ALthough he is partly responsible for this abortion of a team, he has a right to rip the hell out of them for their lack of spirit.

Bernie will not be back this year. You can take that to the bank

Yankees!!!

Bad start. The pitching staff has caved in. The Big Unit is okay but he is an old man for a baseball player. I am afraid the 60s and 80s are being recycled. A-Rod and Jeter are hitting but no one else. Right now, the Yankees seem like a collection of high paid individuals rather than a team. I long for the Paul O'Neill Yankees of the 90s. I read that George Steinbrenner has a horse in the Kentucky Derby, Bellamy Road. Read my paper about The Yankees. http://jimcolyer.com/papers/entry?id=41

#347

Yankees!!!

Woohoo! The Yankees win!!!!

Hopefully they can keep winning this time, I am going again next Sunday.
#348

Yankees!!!

You see? As soon as Jorge got a hit, everything got going. I love that guy. :)
#349

Yankees!!!

I hate Kevin Brown. Hate hate hate hate HATE. Grr.

Sorry, just needed to get that out.
