HoFers Today

Oh, I was in Internet baseball fan almost as soon as I discovered I could be one. I think I have 2 friends who care about baseball at all, and neither is much for stats or following the game closely. Without the 'net, I'd have had no one to talk to. The same is sort of true for theater, too, sadly.

Stupid computer ate my post, I must go to bed.
It is nice to have people to share your passions with, I'm sure they are about.
Good Evening Plum.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

HoFers Today

I was just about to say my goodbyes, too, but you beat me to it. I need to sleep before I do a faceplant into the keyboard, though. G'night. :)

Yankees Friday

I MAY have two extra tickets for the Yankees game Friday. Won't know till tomorrow.

PM me.

Yankees Friday

Fly out, pinch hit, walk, pinch run, pitching change. So much activity adding up to so little. The Yanks are going to lose again, dammit.

ETA- Oh, yeah, Jeter's a clutch god, all right. *headdesk*

ETA- I win at predictions. Not that this one was particularly hard to make. *grinds teeth* Dammit.

Well, the White Sox are pretty good this year. I still hating losing to them though. When the most exciting thing happening is a fan falling/jumping from the upper deck, that's not so good for baseball. (that was my section, I was about 10 rows behind the kid, so I didn't even get to see anything except the entire rest of the stadium and players looking up at our section.

Yankees Friday

They should have won yesterday; the bullpen was mishandled.
#783

Yankees Friday

The Cubs are so pathetic that this may have to be my last post on the subject.
#784

Yankees Friday

D'you mean you'll stop following them or just stop talking about them? Because really, what better place to whine about your team than here?
#785

Yankees Friday

Woo Hoo! Go White Sox! :)

Yankees Friday

I have to say, the White Sox are my World Series favorites at the moment. They're not a juggernaut team, but they do a lot of things right.
#787

Yankees Friday

brdlwyr, don't you turn into another OTA and disappear!!! We love to hear about other teams that are worse than our own!!

Yankees Friday

Somehow I doubt the schadenfreude argument is going to be the strongest one. :)

I don't know what to make of the Sox. They're doing well in the standings, but they've been playing really sloppy ball. They make me very nervous! ARG!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Yankees Friday

The Sox have serious problems. They're just not as bad as the Yankees' problems- I mean, as long as you have something resembling a rotation, you're better off than we are.

Did I mention Roger Clemens has a 1.38 ERA? *sob*
#791

Yankees Friday

Clemens is ridiculous! And he doesn't have that many wins, does he? I haven't really been following it that closely, but I don't think his W/L ratio necessarily reflects that crazy ERA! I feel bad for him.

Time to head home for the day...YAY! The Sox are (supposed to be) on ESPN tonight! Not that that necessarily means anything...last time they were scheduled to be on they aired the Baltimore game. Come on guys! I'm lucky to get a couple a month. That was such a tease. It best be on tonight!!!

Mabel, Clemens' year can best be summed up like this- at one point, he had three starts in a row where he went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The Astros were shut out and lost all three.
#793

Yankees Friday

Yankees win today! Cubs win too- brdlwyr, you can come back and post again!
#794

Yankees Friday

Yay for you guys, my team lost, but I'm still happy.
So Plum you think ChiSox are headed to the series from the AL, who from the NL, Cards?
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.
#795

Yankees Friday

I don't follow the NL as closely as the AL for obvious reasons. So my decidedly uninformed thoughts? It'll be between the Astros and Cards again, with everything depending on how much strength Houston's big pitchers have left in October. San Diego is just the top team in a horrible division, and Atlanta is always the bridesmaid but never the bride. :) Though I guess that last argument is a pretty specious one. Still...Right now I'm calling a repeat of last year's NLCS, with the possibility of a different result this time around.

White Sox-Astros would make a fascinating World Series, wouldn't it?
#796

Yankees Friday

Hey they actually pulled it out 10 years ago! (wow now there is a glowing counter to your arguement, Braves suck Yankees Friday)
I was thinking Astros-Cards in the NLCS, and I think the Astros take it with the pitching, depending on health.
Sox- Sox in the AL would be fun. (Unless the Yanks can make a run and take the penant, that would be MORE fun!) Yankees Friday
All in all for the third year in a row it looks to be a VERY interesting finish, and postseason.

The Padres are really, really bad. They may be the worst first place team... ever.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Yankees Friday

Sox in the AL would be fun

Please say you mean White Sox. Yankees Friday

Okay, as long as we're making bold predictions, who are you calling for the Cy Young and MVP races? I mean who will win, not who should.

AL MVP: The three big Yankees- Sheffield, Rodriguez, and Giambi- aren't getting it for varying reasons, not least of which is the fact that they're Yankees. Though A-Rod probably deserves it. Anyway, Manny, Vlad, Texiera and Ortiz could all have cases. I'm going to go with Vlad, just because.

NL MVP: Derrek Lee and Albert Pujols look like good candidates right now. Maybe Andruw Jones? Miguel Cabrera might be in the race, too. I'll say Pujols because people have been predicting an MVP for him for years, and writers love vindicating themselves.

AL Cy: Mark Buehrle. Whose name, by the way, I spelled incorrectly in 3 different ways before figuring it out.

NL Cy: A bit harder. Roger Clemens, as mentioned before, has an absolutely insane 1.38 ERA right now. And he's Roger Clemens, which is practically synonymous with "Cy Young" in voters' minds. Chris Carpenter, though, has the wins. And oh, how the writers love wins. Sabermetrically he's only a bit behind Clemens, performance-wise, but I doubt most voters look that deep. I'll say Carpenter by a nose. Actually, more like a hair.

I meant Red versus White in the AlCS, remember I'm a Braves fan so I'm always a pessimist about teams I actually like having any playoff chance at all. ie. Yanks.

All the other races I need some time to think out, I'll post on them by the time the day is out. Yankees Friday

Great day at Wrigley. Zambrano was solid the offense came alive. And, I really hate the Cardinals.
