Yeah, bad things happen when you have 3 errors in a game (and it's not over yet!)...Very glad all my scrambling around craigslist for tix to tonights game left me empty handed.

Oh, and Jason Varitek needs to NEVER swing the bat when he goes up w/ the bases loaded. I could smell that double play from a mile away. Other than that freak grand slam earlier in the season, it seems like he always ends up ending the inning w/ the bases loaded. From now on, he should just stand there and hope for a walk or being hit by a pitch. *shakes head*

Awww, I feel bad for Wake. It looks like he pitched a hell of a game. I didn't really see any of it, since I don't have YES and I was out running around for most of the game, so I didn't even watch on Gameday, but 3 hits, 1 run, 12 strikeouts. What a pisser.

Wakefield totally owns the Yankees. I admit that freely- in some ways he's even worse than Schilling, though the knuckleball is a less reliable pitch than a fastball. But someone has to lose in a pitching duel. I can't say I'm unhappy with the result this time around. :)

I didn't catch the game. How long did Johnson stay in? I put Gameday on when I got home, and Mo was in at the top of the 9th. *sigh* Next time, Wake.

Johnson stayed for 7 innings. He could have gone longer, but he got a muscle cramp in his left leg. (Nothing damaging, thank goodness.)

Liotte, we've seen these crushing victories over Tampa before. They've been inevitably followed by absolutely moronic losses. So here's hoping the Yanks break the pattern- the damn Devil Rays are the difference between their current position and a lead in the AL East.

Thanks for the sympathy, penguin. I have a feeling we're going to blow this...I have a feeling the last series of the season between the Sox and Yanks will be something to behold...assuming we don't go on a complete nosedive to the point where that series is irrelevant. I wouldn't put that past us either. W/ Damon injured, and Kapler out for the rest of the season (who pulls their Achilles heel running the bases on a homerun?!?!?) our lack of a solid closer, and a pretty ech starting rotation, I'd say our days in first are numbered...or is that more like our hours in first. *sigh*

I was talking to my mom this morning and she was saying that when the team was being interviewed after last night's game on NESN, they all seemed to be cool, calm, and collected about it all. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. I mean, part of me is a little miffed that they seem to think it's no big deal that their lead is getting wiped away, but then I think about the ALCS last year when they were down by 3 games...they didn't seem particularly concerned then, and I think we all know how that turned out. I just don't know what to make of them. Though, I will say that I'd choose to be in the Yankees position at this stage of the game any day of the week. I'd much rather be in the position to steal away 1st in the last weeks, than have had it for x-# of weeks only to blow it all at the last minute.
