yankees rule the world!

He can't; his back hurts.

Y'know, I'd be more than happy with "pretty good" Randy Johnson. Something like Clemens' last 2 years on the team, as opposed to Clemens in 1999.

Also, in the Jokes That Write Themselves File:

This year, the Comeback Player of the Year Award is sponsored by Viagra. That's right, folks. One lucky guy in each league will be named the Viagra Comeback Player of the Year.

yankees rule the world!

Hooray for you guys! I was actually thinking while watching the results of the Bs vs Cs game (we didn't get it in the city) at least Brdlwyr will be happy yankees rule the world!

and the Yanks pulled it out and Liotte returns, Such a night!

Randy I'm afraid has had it, of course he'll probably make me eat my words. Or kick me.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

there are no Braves

It's the stretch run and we fall to page 5?

Slow day, no Braves, no Cubs.

Yanks win though! creeping up on the Sox

I'm sick of ESPN. Practically the only thing you can get for free on their site anymore is standard wire stories, and just about everything they do (stats, scoreboards) is done better by other sites. It's sad, because they used to be the first place I went for baseball info.

And you definitely wouldn't want Randy kicking you. The man's got range. :)
#857

there are no Braves

I HATE the Espn website, but I've been brainwashed into the think of sports think ESPN way of life. I also like their columns, of course I can't read them anymore. BLah. You are right I should go other places, mostly I do.

Randy's back though will not get him to me, I'll just hop away. there are no Braves

there are no Braves

The mental image of you skipping away from a hobbled Randy Johnson is just too funny for words. :)

ESPN was actually a good site about 4 years ago, but they gradually went ape**** with Insider, Motion, and ads everywhere. Yeah, I get that they want the site to turn a profit, but geez.

Anyway, MLB.com has a better scoreboard and online follow-the-dots game broadcast, and I can use blogs and Google News to get the commentary I'm interested in, all without paying a cent. It's really the loss of Rob Neyer columns that pisses me off.
#859

there are no Braves

I remember those days well, in my head ESPN's site is still like that. Rob Neyer and some of the college football guys are the ones I miss. I will not pay so I generally hop around. Mlb.com I use pretty frequently though.

there are no Braves

Hello my fellow baseball fans!

I'm back in the city and going to the game tonight, hooray! If we win and Boston loses, we'll only be 1.5 games out of first!
#861

there are no Braves

At this point I'll gladly take the Wild Card. Considering how many chances they've blown this year and how badly they screwed up their chances over the winter, the Yankees scarcly deserve it, but that's what happens with "parity"- deeply flawed teams can claw their way to the top.

Yankees win. Boston's game can go either way, Oakland is winning as of the 8th, and Cleveland is winning in the top of the 9th. Nothing comes easy.

there are no Braves

Such a fun game! Bernie with 2 home runs, A-Rod with 1, good times!
#863

Cubs lose

Cubs lose 7-5. Boring game for me at Wrigley. I have only one set of tickets remaining for the lost season.
#864

Cubs lose

Ah, so that's where you have been all day!

I saw the cubs score on the out-of-town scoreboard, sorry bout that!
#865

Cubs lose

Pleasant afternoon, but only one inning of offense, then off to dinner with the family and our old friends - 12 of us. We have a sleep over guest tonight which was not approved by me. She is a nice kid, oh well.
#866

Cubs lose

Sounds like a nice day. Did you see our discussion about your whereabouts on the mojito thread??
#867

Cubs lose

What that tired old thread?
#868

Cubs lose

LOL.

Hopefully the yankees will win all weekend (since I'll be there again on Sunday) and boston will lose so we can catch up a bit. Wishful thinking, I know.
#869

Cubs lose

Considering the fact that they're facing the "mighty" Royals, yeah.
#870

Cubs lose

Too bad Boston won.

So 2 things that bugged me last night-

a) people did the wave. I just hate that. Save it for college football games.

b) they alternate playing Frank and Liza now no matter who wins.
#871

Cubs lose

Crap, a friend just bailed on me. Anyone want to go to the game tomorrow???
#872

Cubs lose

Wow, they're losing 10-0 after only 2 innings. Nice job, guys.
#873

Cubs lose

Plum - I thought of you and this thread today. But, it is so painful for me 22 games behind!!!!!!!
#874

Cubs lose

11-0 after 3. Can you see the Wild Card slipping away?
#875

Cubs lose

Don't say it plum! Don't say it!!
