I just never got into baseball......my Aunt is the biggest Yankee fan there is......I sent her a Cubs postcard from Chicago a couple of weeks ago. She sent me a terse email that simply said 'This is a Cubs free zone" LOL
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Ha I haven't read 38 pages of this thread, but I go to BU, and I can see Fenway right from my dorm (which is awesome), but since I like NYC better, I'll go for the Yanks lol. I'll give anyone a hug who wears a NYY shirt/hat down Commonwealth Ave.

Mabel, anything you can do we can do better. The Yankees' rotation makes the Red Sox's look downright brilliant sometimes. I think New York has been through 38 pitchers this year. And no, that's not an exaggeration.
And if the Yankees make it, following the playoffs from a morning-after perspective is going to be just awful. But what can I do? I'm in school and 8pm games start at 1am London time. Oy.

The last time New York had any kind of lead I think they hung on to it for one day, but for now...heaven bless those Devil Rays. :P All's forgiven if they let the Yanks snatch the lead away and keep it at the last minute.

Poor Wake! The guy just can't catch a break. He didn't pitch that great, but it was a decent enough outing that he should have walked away w/ the win. Tito's gotta know better by now that he CANNOT bring Timlin in w/ men on. He's been doing creat as our closer shutting them down, coming in fresh in the 9th (or even if he comes in w/ the bases cleared during the 8th) but he always, always chokes coming in w/ men on!
I just don't see how we can come back at this stage of the game. Our rotation is crap, Francona's doing some seriously frigged up things line-up-wise, and we have been playing sloppy baseball. I certainly have't given up hope entirely, but I'd say if we do stage a comeback (not that a half a game is going to be that much to overcome or anything) I find it hard to believe we'll make it very far in the playoffs. The last couple of weeks have been pretty abysmal, and unless we shape up quickly...

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Substitute "Torre" for "Francona" and you'll have the Yankees' frequent situation. I know it sounds weird coming from me, but don't give up hope. New York is just awful enough to give you guys a chance.

Yeah, I agree...I think in a lot of ways, we're both in the same boat. Both teams are seriously flawed, and I think it'll end up coming down to those last 3 games! Eeek!
