Oh, I was pretty sure the Angels would win from the start. Doesn't mean the Yankees can't win, or that I'll stop hoping for it, but my instincts were never happy about this series.

Brad Ausmus? Talk about unlikely- that's almost on the level of Aaron Boone's ALCS homer a couple of years back. I really hope the Astros win this one.

Wow. 16th inning and they're still at it. Roger Clemens is in the game, the 8th pitcher the Astros have used. Houston's in trouble if they don't score soon, but that's pretty much been the story of their season, hasn't it?

18 innings! Wow, wow, wow! Poor Houston- they really need to rest now. They're damn lucky the NY-Anaheim series was delayed a day.

And yes, I'm still calling them the Anaheim Angels. I'm willing to revert to California Angels if they want, but there's no way on God's green earth that I'm going to cooperate with their stupid marketing grab and call them the L.A. Angels.

I think I've said plenty about my feelings on this series. But hey, it's baseball. We just had a frickin' 18-inning game in which Brad Ausmus hit a game-tying home run. I wouldn't be surprised if Lackey got smacked by a flying pig and had to be taken out of the game.

That is all I have, 18 inning games take their toll on all of us.

I just hope someone kicks the Astros and does not stop, I'm also not too happy with the Yankees due to my mood, and the Angels, ChiSox and Cards

Also, I don't get how a play can be a fielder's choice when neither an out nor an error is recorded, but whatever. I'm too busy squealing to think about it.

ETA- Ah, what a waste of a golden opportunity. The bases were loaded with the 3 fastest Yankees and Giambi and Sheffield (two of their biggest power hitters) both made out. But at least New York's in the lead.

It does not have to be an error or an out, just the fielder "choosing" to throw to second instead of first makes it a "fielder's choice."

from the baseball encyclopedia:

FIELDER'S CHOICE is the act of a fielder who handles a fair grounder and, instead of throwing to first base to put out the batter runner, throws to another base in an attempt to put out a preceding runner. The term is also used by scorers

(a) to account for the advance of the batter runner who takes one or more extra bases when the fielder who handles his safe hit attempts to put out a preceding runner;

(b) to account for the advance of a runner (other than by stolen base or error) while a fielder is attempting to put out another runner; and

(c) to account for the advance of a runner made solely because of the defensive team's indifference (undefended steal).

ahh astros game was AWSSOMEEE. i missed the end but they announced that they won at the end of church HAHAHA (I live in Houston). I went to the game yesterday and they did awsomee! i really hope they beat the Cardinals this year!
