Beyonce saved her career tonight — Page 4

No, I was not, songanddanceman. I had Viewpoint on CurrentTV going in the background while I was doing some research on The Glass Menagerie when I heard John Fugelsang, who now hosts that show, make that point. It was what I felt when I watched the Beyonce performance online this morning. It was great to see somebody dance that hard and not get winded this year. I did miss a football theme, you know, pom poms and retro cheerleader outfits, since you convinced me how important that is for this super bowl thing. And lucky for Beyonce she didn't have some horrible British girl stick up a nasty finger and ruin her whole special day. If you must know.

First of all, I remember very clearly what I wrote, and it was that IF I had liked it, I would have said so. That I was exactly the viewer she should have been able to win over, the way Prince did despite my loathing his homophobia. But she didn't. And yes, she certainly did look winded when she almost fell off that riser and seemed to stop just shy of bending at the waist and putting one hand on her knee.

Beyonce of course danced very well, she is a tremendous dancer, however (as i said earlier) it would be nice to see her do some different moves rather than doing the same routines to each song on every tour (with the strutting of course). Madonna danced great and you know she did.

I always thought right from the beginning it was a single for the Superbowl that was put on the album (and sounds hugely out of place, something else i commented on). I remember you bringing this up with an article you posted and now you seem to aim at me like i changed my mind. Is i said i always thought it was for the superbowl (if the song with all the cheer chants in does not make that obvious then the football themed video sure did).

The song is OK, it would be fun for a B Side or unreleased song but not as a single. I think at first i got swept up in it but after a few listens just was not feeling it (oddly enough though i think the version she did on the tour was superb).

I still wanna hear you chant it though Namo, make my day.

No, that notion was dispatched rather quickly.

And I said from the day the album was released, you will come to feel that way in the future about the whole album and we'll look back and laugh about the old times. One way would be for Madonna to work hard and invest herself in creating a good album, (no fair releasing first takes because you have to rehearse a tour again, Maddie!), and then you'd be all, "I can't believe I fell for MDNA..."

I'm afraid she won't do it though.
