Posted: 11/18/05 at 12:29pmskittles, I don't want to have to alter every single piece of clothing I buy. I want to buy off the rack - and there are, in 2005, plenty of short, heavy girls. There IS a market - the fashion industry just has yet to realize it.

Oh, I completely agree. That's what the :/ was for. It sucks and it's unfair that the fashion industry still thinks everyone is meant to fit into the same clothes as Giselle, when clearly, when 60% of the population is overweight, that's not the case.
Yet they always complain that people don't wear clothes that work for their bodies. Maybe if someone bothered to create some, we could.

I've never, at any point in my life, been overweight (kind of the opposite, actually), and yet the Great Clothing Conspiracy has decided that my hips belong to a girl 3 inches taller than me. Thank goodness for cuffing. And I'm not even going to go into my problems with tops.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 12:56pmInteresting, they've also decided that my hips belong to a girl with a waist 6 inches bigger than mine. And longer legs. And definitely a bigger ass.

See I have "gymnast" (muscular) thighs, but I have small waist so anything that I find that fits my legs is so huge in the waist that I can't sit down without my ass hanging out!
Recently however, I was lucky to find jeans from Express that fit me wonderfully. Yay!

See I'm curvy all around, but yet I don't have big boobs and I don't have an ass either.
It's rather unfortunate that the things I'm supposed to have with my size... I don't...
But I can still manage wearing regular sizes.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 6:26pmHeehee. Nice picture. It too has been dicided for me that my hips belong to girls taller than me. All the bottoms of my pants are dirty and frayed because I step on them when I walk. But that might be my fault. I'm extrememly picky about the clothes I buy.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 11:26pmSometimes I'm convinced that I have linebacker shoulders. I have not met the button down shirt that fits properly yet. The collar always looks pulled back and I'm constantly tugging the front of my shirt. And to answer RobbO's question. Yes. It goes from smallest to largest in the women's stores as well. My friend Norma is on tiptoes trying to find her size and I'm blowing out my knees, crouching to find mine.

Posted: 11/19/05 at 12:59amI like dance clothes because they stretch. When you're working a 12 or 14 hour day, a little spandex is a godsend so long as you can dress casual.

Posted: 11/19/05 at 2:20amAhhh, my problem is not with my hips, but with the little under-the-tummy pooch that's a lovely combination of birth control pill horomones and my mom's genes. I have a very nice booty, but it always looks dumpy in pants because I have to get them big enough to fit that little poochie in front. Ugh.

Quit moaning bitches and get yourself down to OLD NAVY. THEY have plus sizes now!
Buy those "she's so out of shape, and oh my gosh why do I need to see that" denim jeans.
Or those "you know you didn't call her back because she sat on your phone and broke it" jeans.
Or look at these, the "you're a nice person, really, a really nice person, but I don't think we click and I don't want to see you after tonight...are you going to eat that?" jeans.
That's right. Old Navy. The store that "cares" about pears.
Pop-u-lar. You're gonna be pop-u-lar...

Posted: 11/21/05 at 7:09amJust wait until you finally find the clothes that fit and then (suddenly it seems) your age and gravity take over and everything heads for the south. One reason older ladies dress frumpy is because they don't really have any other choice!
A click for life.
