An African-American family who went to visit Disneyland is accusing the White Rabbit from 'Alice in Wonderland' to be racist after not hugging their children. What do you all think about this? One of the family memebers observed the same character hugging the white children who approached him around the same time.

"How does that family know that the person inside the rabbit costume is white?"
They didn't allege that the person inside the rabbit was white. They have no need to make such allegation. The race of the person inside the rabbit is completely immaterial. Anyone can unfairly discriminate against a group of people, even members of the group in question.

herikegerman, whatever. It's still absolutely ridiculous. People who make such allegations do so because they decide to, without proof it was racism.
They could have been dirty, lol, or maybe they smelled. Maybe the white rabbit can claim he saw a weapon on them. Whatevs!

Trust me, you can smell a lot in those heads....
The one telling thing, for me, is that Disney offered the family something and then asked them to sign a confidentiality report. If they has nothing to hide, why were they asking the family to do that?

Whether it's ridiculous or not depends on whether in fact the white rabbit was avoiding the kids because they are black.
The complaint is no more ridiculous than a restaurant refusing to serve the kids.

It's ridiculous because there is no way to prove it.
After all the posturing and righteous indignation is over (on both sides) there is nothing to prosecute.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 5:27pmDisney might have just wanted to keep even a false story (not saying it is, just saying "if") out of the media, by having them sign that.

Posted: 2/7/13 at 5:31pmThere are way too many people who are way too sensitive about percieved slights. Its just so ridiculous. They see racism at every turn. For instance, Black Friday or Black Magic are not racist terms.
