I'm not sure what I think of it.
First Narnia, now Terabithia. Bravo Disney!
Not too sure!

It's going to be a movie?!?! That is one of my all-time favorite books. Wow.
The description alone puts me off. This book was fabulous in itself, without trying to make it fit the fantasy mold.
Of course, look at what Disney did with my beloved "A Wrinkle in Time." I can't say I'm surprised.
I would've loved it if they had made a Bridge to Terabithia movie back in the day with Tatum O'Neal. Would've been fabu!
As someone who loves this book, I'm just going to pretend this film doesn't exist.

Just watched the trailer: no no no no no! I will not see this movie. Patronus, I'm with you. It does not exist.
I only kind of remember this book (I was in the fifth grade when I read it), but I don't remember the plot having anything to do with giant treemen or stuff like that. I remember it as kind of being a reversed My Girl.
Hah,
Kitz...I have never actually seen all of A Wrinkle in Time, but I am friends with the actress who played Meg in it.

The last time I read (and adored) this book was about 5 years ago, but I remeber NO magic. Are they supposed to be dream/fantasy sequences or something? i was hoping that if this were ot be a film, it would be a quiet study on a dysfunctioanl family bonding together and frienship. Not warlocks
I read this book in the 5th grade, and remember it being one of my favorites. I know I haven't read it in a while, but I don't remember all of those monsters/creatures going on in that trailer.
I just re-read this book 2 weeks ago as a result of the "books that made you cry" thread. That said, I am appalled at the need to punch up the fantasy aspect. All I have to say is that they had better not cheat us out of Leslie's death. Sad as it is, the book would be nothing without it. It's like making a film of "Where the Red Fern Grows" and not having Big Dan and Little Ann die.
And wasn't Leslie supposed to be extremely tomboyish (hence the used-by-both-genders name)? Whoever that was looked way too girly.
is this a remake of the 1985 movie version with Annette O'Toole?
you've got to be S***ing me. That is ALL wrong. I have been in love with this book since i was 8 and i can not stand to see it ruined. GAHHHH

DUDE, they're making a movie of terabithia!?
that is SOO awesome!! I read it in 5th grade and it was one of the best books I've ever read in school
I always wanted it to be a movie too!
*goes to watch trailer*
one and only book that's ever made me cry
I am a big fan of the book too, but the trailer looks wonderful!
CATSNYRevival, I guess you could call this a remake, but it's actually based on the novel.
I need to find the 1985 version.
You think they'll release more trailers?
ehh i wouldn't call that based on the novel, they made it inot a narnia like action epic thing and that is not AT ALL what is it. Terribithia isn't some fantasy kingdom with ogres and fairies. GOD DAMNIT im pissed
Well it wasn't a fantasy action as as a whole, but Jesse and Lesley did have adventures like those shown in their minds. The movie is bringing their imaginations to life. In that sense I think it makes sense. And Terabithia says that Lesley read the Chronicles of Narnia books. I will give this movie a chance.
Of course, look at what Disney did with my beloved "A Wrinkle in Time."
Don't remind me.
I think it looks awesome and I can't wait to see it. I might put off rereading the book just so I give the movie a fair shot.
This was my favorite book when I was a kid. It makes me happy to see that so many other people on here loved it too. I will even admit that it used to make me cry too
I remember there already being a movie version -- was that one just a TV movie?
I just watched the trailer and I agree with what most of you are saying. From first glance I don't like all of the special effects and overkill on the fastasy aspect. However, I will keep an open mind until it is released. Maybe the trailer is a false representation and the fantasy land isn't as extensive a part of the movie as it appears. If the crux of the movie is based on their adventures in Terabithia then a lot of the books original meaning is lost. The focus is on the unlikely friendship established by Jesse and Leslie and how when they go to "Terabithia" they are not bound by preconceptions and can just be themselves. I wonder if they are going to include Jesse's interaction with the Art Teacher, and his going to the gallery with her on the day of the storm...
I just went back and read the book again, and it just made me even more annoyed with this movie. Yes they have fantasies but they are just sweet and sor of simple like the rest of the book. And thats not even really a big part of the story, I mean no matter how hard I braced myself for the ending I still cried my eyes out.
