re: Britney's new CD out Tuesday, October 30th

Just bought 3 more copies!!

I failed to mention that only one of this is for myself! I gave 2 away and I intend to give these other 3 away. I gave one to my English teacher whom I always have Britney chats with and then to a girl named Georgia in my Economics class whom I always dance with across the room when we lip sync Gimme More :-P. I'm giving another CD to my counselor at school (gonna force him to listen to it!), one to my favorite teacher in the school and then I have an extra... what to do...

it's a great CD.

Speaking of All Saints--only one good song?! I know they had atleast 2! Have you heard Rock Steady? If not, I highly reccomend you go preview it on iTunes! Much better than their one hit. Never Ever is an awful song with horribly cheesy lyrics and it makes me laugh everytime! re: Britney's new CD out Tuesday, October 30th

All Saints did a great cover of Lady Marmalade. I have that cd.

I'm excited after reading the great feedback for Blackout - should I download it off iTunes or buy it?

Aw, thanks supportivemom :).

The girl who I gave the CD to in my Economics class today gave me a hug and told me I made her day, which hadn't been going well at all. She was showing all of her friends that I gave her the CD. The guys in the class were sort of laughing of course, but several of the girls were jealous :-P.

Rath, I HAD to buy the actual CD--I collect CDs though... It's a pretty CD too, so I think it's worth it :). Buying it on iTunes just isn't enough for me. Go get it at Best Buy! You'll spend just as much on it there as you will on iTunes (9.99!). :) I'm glad she's getting such great feedback!

Radar's been stuck in my head for the past week, with any brief intervals filled by parts of Piece of Me. Oh, Britney. How could we ever doubt you? $100 mil in net worth gets you the best producers money can buy!

I just finished listening to the entire album. Love it. Hate the video.

"is this CD better than her album "In The Zone"? cause i loved that CD "

I loved In The Zone.
I met her when she did her record signing at Virgin Mega when that came out.
I think this CD is fantastic, I like In The Zone, but this one is pretty fantastic!

I think this is her best effort. There's only a couple of songs that i skip past - the rest are solid dance numbers.

It's so good, it's stunning.

Not since Billie Holiday has a frequent and habitual drug user been able to create this much magic in a recording studio while being stoned out of her gord.

"Radar", alone, is indeed, one of the best things Ms. Spears has ever recorded.

That's just blasphemy. Pure blasphemy.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

Interesting review from Salon.com:

Thoughts?
Bad Sex with Britney!
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

re: Britney's new CD out Tuesday, October 30th

I don't know how long that Salon article is, as the following page(s) won't load for me. But i disagree with most of what the writer starts off saying.

As far as Britney "being our bitch" I think it goes both ways. She may provide fodder for water-cooler talk, but she's also laughing all the way to the bank while "we" talk about her.

As far as "Gimme More" being the only hit on the album - no way. There are a handful of songs on this one that will chart.

I'm giving 95% of the credit to the producers, but hey, Britney did have to show up and record something.

I do, however agree somewhat with the "bad sex" angle. This is why i firmly close my eyes and conjure up a circa-2001 Britney when I listen to the "sexier" songs.

A colleague played the whole thing at work today. It really is excruciating. The only thing it proves is that you really can fool some of the midgets all of the time.

re: Britney's new CD out Tuesday, October 30th

Here's the final couple paragraphs from the salon article:

"And whereas Madonna wrote the book on sex, Prince wrote the Bible, Janet Jackson preached it, and Aguilera translated it, Spears has yet to read it. "In the Zone" made a special, if calculated, effort to burn off whatever residual Mouseketeer stigma remained with her, and for a moment we believed that a white chick from Louisiana would admit to being our slave. But "Blackout's" attempts at sexual liberation ache with desperation: In "Get Naked," Spears, presumably drunk and/or high at 3 a.m., accosts someone leaving a party with unsexy lines like, "Baby I'm a freak and I don't really give a damn" and "I'm crazy as a mother****er." Maybe you'd better sleep this one off, Britney. Stop unbuckling our belt. Likewise, the "more" she pleads for in the Peaches-esque "Gimme More" is publicity, not sexual pleasure: "Cameras are flashing while we're dirty dancing/ They keep watching." Then there is the atrocious, patently ridiculous "Hot as Ice." Not only does any 3-year-old know that ice is not hot, any 23-year-old knows that declaring yourself cold, even indirectly, even accidentally, isn't the least bit arousing. No matter how much you coo and preen.

"Spears' career has never felt quite so prostituted before. Her blank, low-energy vocals, punctuated by a gasp here, a moan there, don't help sell many of these commercials. The combination of her lackluster, faxed-in performances -- the vocal equivalents of her MTV dancing -- with off-putting horny come-ons creates a trashy atmosphere that sounds like lots of fun on the first couple of listens. In fact, it sounds like exactly the record she should make right now, given the erosion of her public image. But there's nothing empowering or inspiring about this extravaganza; her producers are simply talented enough to create greater demand for their own product while bypassing the issue of Spears' nonattendance. And by having her unenthusiastically give bad sex the hard sell, they callously drop off Spears in cheap hooker territory on their way to the next superstar."

re: Britney's new CD out Tuesday, October 30th

Aw... poor Britney. haha, she's trying to dance and sing at the same time...

this is a Britney Spears concert--not a Broadway show!

I'm surprised she was singing anything! I thought she really was just lip synching!

The Baby One More Time part was actually IN the performance that was aired on HBO--but they edited it out for the DVD release!
