There are few chit stirrers whom I wish no one here would name check. Gone and easily forgotten.

OH boobs! what u said!
and like musical theater in general, that was the happy delusion we all participated in. Until it was brought home to us that, we may think of ourselves a community, but we are just "visits" that drive advertising revenue. and if that seems threatened , well, so will we be.
That's how I see's it anyways![]()

Mr Roxy said: "You forget the bullying of other shows you and others did not like. It cuts both ways."
I don't recall them, no. With rare exception, I usually stay out of threads for shows I don't like, since who cares?! Some threads were so upbeat and enthusiastic for mediocre shows (like Last Ship and Honeymoon in Vegas, off the top of my head), that I did go in those just to sort out what I was missing. Turns out, it was always nothing, but otherwise, I typically stay away.
That said, I do end up picking on you about Hamilton from time to time, but that is when you turn every thread into a Hamilton thread, and I went there for information about, you know, the actual show? heh. I don't usually visit the Hamil-ton of threads on here.

Nothing like an After Eight post. I always feel depressed after reading them.

South Florida,
Don't read them, then.
Cheers.

I'm just commenting that you seem depressed. To start your quote, "I never found the board funny, but then, was it supposed to be? ". That was depressing to begin with. Isn't the answer yes?

No --- at least I didn't think so. I thought it was supposed to be about discussing theatre.

Nah, it's about laughter and friendship of people that have something in common. If all you want to do is discuss theatre, what are you doing in the off topic board?

Uh, discussing the off-topic at hand.
It's a real knee-slapper of a discussion, no question.

Who said it did?
Actually, I espouse the sentiment penned by Cole Porter: "Life's great, life's grand."
And I'm ridin' high.

What Murin posted didn't approach the vitriolic negativity and mean-spirited bashing that had become commonplace on this board. Many of us are here to celebrate and enter into meaningful discourse about the theater, not to bury it.

How is discourse meaningful if it's one sided?

I asked Namo to come back home to his BWW family, but he said that he needed to spend more time with his social media friends instead. Now I know how Rocco Ritchie feels.

Discourse is by definition multi-sided. Who suggested otherwise?

I think these days when someone says "bury it", it reads like a euphemism for "no negative opinions are allowed".
That's just the way I interpret in in the current climate.

Laughter can be found on the Main Board with the [She Who Shall Not Be Named] in Frozen thread.
Well played, Artscallion.

"I think these days when someone says "bury it", it reads like a euphemism for "no negative opinions are allowed"."
That's certainly not how I meant it. I welcome negative opinions and have many myself, but there's a diffrenece betwen "I didn't care for such-and such because..." and "That was a piece of sh!t." Or "I don't agree with you so you're an a$$hole." Discourse is about sharing your opinion, not bashing someone elses.
