I started posting here back in... 2006... 10 years ago now *sigh*... I was 14. How I long for the days where Patti Murin still outbursts were dime a dozen. I also think kind of think it's hilarious how people talk about how bad BWW has become when we dragggggggggggeeedd this 13 year old through the mud.
When I see drama popping up around here its like amateur hour.

I have seen and read these boards since 2005-6 and when I joined it was very fun. Drama or laughter, the boards will never change and I love it for that, PalJoey and other smart people like him are the true reasons why I still post here from time to time and that is very wonderful to me.
After reading up about this whole situation, I do think Patti Murin owes the board an apology.

I never found the board funny, but then, was it supposed to be? It's true that I read only a small percentage of threads, so maybe the others were a laugh riot that I was missing out on. I certainly do not and never did find bullying funny, hectoring newcomers funny, infantile snark funny, ageism funny. Once the ignore feature was put in place, I made plentiful use of it by blocking all those those who reveled in such activities, and since then, I've found the board a far more pleasant place.

The board went into decline with the influx of trolls. But it died when longtime posters fed them instead of ignoring them.

"I do think Patti Murin owes the board an apology."
I do too. But it won't happen. She single handedly ruined the board and I think that was her goal.

Unless you're the one doing it Hamilton and Fun Home threads, I guess?

I'm sure Rob & co won't share this information - and they have no obligation to do so - but it would be interesting to learn how much uniques/impressions/frequency etc declined in the post-Murrin era.

Snark grew up and recently moved out. I'm really going to miss that kid.

To Hate
You forget the bullying of other shows you and others did not like. It cuts both ways. By the way, you cannot bully a show. You can bully a person which many times is the case here.I am quite sure the show you are referring to is a big boy and needs no one to defend it

I read theboards a while before joining in May of 2005. I check them a lot daily, still. I just tdnd to stay out of the "fray". When threads start to get nasty I tend to scroll through to get to the on topic comments.
I honestly havdn't followed or paid mich attention to what some of the nastier posters have done here and why they are not liked. I do know there are posters I would not respond to, some mentioned in this thread. I just love theatre and have alway come here for news, info, humor and gossip! There are a lot of really intelligent and in the know people here. It is why I stayed.
And now I am going to listen to that Madonna song!

Pretty sure Haterobics made a typo and just left a word out of his post.

I forget about how I discovered this site[and most other things now] but BWW filled a much needed place in this aging theatricals' day to day life.
I tip-toed around the board, delighting in the shared knowledge, the bitchiness, the crude rude slightly vulgar things said to each other and thought 'Thank God that wasn't directed at ME'.
I retreated after my first tentative post being shot down as a troll but got courage and came back. See...at 70 you can still grow and learn.
I never blocked anyone but learnt to scroll and skip and pause [a new dance craze] but loved to read the nasty/funny/repetitive/ego-driven/clever posts.
I do miss a certain posters muscle men though .
I feel BWW is now so sanitised it is as clean as my toilet bowl and you could use the lid as a TV tray !!!
Come back Sue, all is forgiven.

Someone has to go to Sidetrax in Chicago and see if Sueleen is still alive.
