I can't wait to hear the requisite complaints from the Carrie experts/movie buffs.
I'm predicting at the very least: "The flames look too controlled," and "Why remake a flawless piece of perfection???"
That was a great first preview trailer. I can't wait to see how the whole movie turns out.
I hate it. The flames are way to controlled.
Honestly, why do they have remake a movie that was perfect to begin with?

This is not your nana's Carrie.
My Nana says that girls who bleed are concubines of Satan and lead to Faggots fornicating and little girls having fake weddings.

I like soundboard recording of the original (in that I like to listen to it high and close my eyes and image my own insane over the top production of it) and I like the movie okay, but I always though the book was the story at its best. I think I read this is going to follow the book more closely? The voiceovers in the trailer make it sound like (since they seem to be allusions to the different POVs) found in the book. If they tell it in a less linear way (like the original movie), I think it might be something worth seeing. I mean, there's virtually no suspense as to what's going to happen* but with two great actresses in the lead and (hopefully) the story being told differently, it might be a decent movie.
Besides, everyone knows that NBC tv movie version can't be topped. I hope they use that ending.
*Although I did read yesterday at one point Carrie was going to have her first period in the pool instead of the shower, but then I read that was already changed. Of course, I got this info from the imdb message boards, so I'd take anything from there with a big ol' deer lick of salt.
I wish she'd have her period while swimming at the beach.
PRS, how is the ending of the NBC TV movie different?
I love the book, I recently taught it and thought it was so much better than I originally had given it credit for. It's not a masterpiece of literature, but I love getting all the different accounts from medical journals, academic books, newspaper articles, and of course, Sue's autobiography (I love that touch! It'd make so much sense for the movie to keep that part given today's current obsession with D-list celebrity "memoirs").
Kimberly Pierce recently confirmed that social networking will play a big role in Chris' terrorizing of Carrie, which I thought was interesting. I just hope they aren't too concerned with adapting it to today's environment. Either way, love the teaser, and cannot wait to see Julianne Moore as Margaret, she's going to be epic.

ray, if I remember correctly, Carrie actually survives the destruction and Sue helps her run off (they may run off together?) to Florida, I think. Apparently the original intention was to spin the movie off into a series.
Also, I was kidding about hoping they use that ending, in case anyone thinks I was serious!
I like the idea of her and Sue running off to Florida together. It's very GIRL, INTERRUPTED.
Lol, PRS, I didn't think you were serious but I was wondering how crazy the ending was. That sounds priceless! Why must it always be Florida? (of course, that's where I live)

Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Looks like so many recent horror movies. There have been remakes and sequels already. I think this will go over as we'll as The Omen remake.

As a HUGE fan of the original and someone who was really upset when I first heard about this, this looks utterly AMAZING!
Why not a mashup?
CARRIE + ICE CASTLES = Bloody ice everyhwere!!
I am a huge fan of Carrie and i hope they can get it right, the trailer is fun. I thought the TV version was pretty weak and Carrie 2 was terrible
Hearing the voice-overs in the trailer, sounds the film was scripted in a documentary-like, interview the witnesses, Rashomon effect kind of storytelling. I kinda support that. I mean, at least it is setting itself apart from the DePalma film. Then again, it is just the teaser.
I am seeing it for Chloe Moretz, who from the sounds of it tried to go method for this film e.g., sewing her own clothes and living in a closet.
I'm really hating the whole "let's make this a statement about bullying." Carrie wouldn't have a computer or facebook and this isn't a book about bullying. It's a horror show.
Didn't they do that in Carrie 2? film Carrie naked or something. Stupid.
Set it in the 70s and have all the girls in the showers have bushes that go up to their navels. That's whats real. That what Carrie is about.
mmmmmm bushy navels!
The climax from CARRIE has already been appropriated in INGLORIOUS BASTERDS and PIRANHA 3D...what more do they think they can bring to it?
I still say setting it on ice is the way to go.
