your 2008 nominee: bammy...after blondie wails on him for 5 more months

I'm sorry to say this, but he makes some good points.

Nothing less that a total condemnation and complete severance of ties to Wright can be acceptable from a man who wants to be president.

If people feel more comfortable under a blanket of fear rather than moving forward and dealing with these racial issues that still need to be addressed in America, then that's sad, but it's not exactly surprising.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

This the spiritual advisor to a candidate running for the POTUS.
I am certainly not comfortable knowing Wright is the man Obama may turn to for council in a time of crisis.

It has nothing to with not acknowledging that race is an issue in this country.

I don't believe that Obama holds the all of the same views that Wright does. I just don't. It doesn't worry me.

I kind of think it is a matter of race. Cheney did an interview a short while ago where he was asked about Iraq and the fact that so many US soldiers and civilians had died and he said "So?" and then he was asked if he cared what the American people think and he said "No."

Uh...why isn't THAT a big deal? I think it's a bigger slap in the face for a man who is already vice president to basically say he doesn't care about the American people than to hear a preacher get carried away ranting on the unjustice in this country. I'm not saying what Wright said was okay, but I find Cheney's words FAR more offensive. He's not under scrutiny though for acutally saying those words. Obama is in huge trouble just for being associated with someone who said bad words. Maybe race does has something to do with it. Just sayin...

EDIT: PS, Glenn Beck is a complete D-bag. And I can't take him seriously talking in front of a swimming pool. Him and his ilk at fox news ONLY tackle racism when they think someone is being racist against white people. Can we say persecution complex? Oh you poor rich white Christians. How DO you get by day to day?

And I LOVE the fact that he pretends to be offended by anti-gay sentiment when I have seen him say anti-gay stuff on his show. He can pretend to be all high and mighty, he is still a creep:

Thanks for posting the Glenn Beck segment. I posted it earlier and I am glad someone in the media finally addressed the fact that Mr. Obama has had 20 years to leave the church if he didn't like what he was hearing.I am sure Rev. Wright didn't just start saying these things 2 weeks ago. I didn't see it but I hear that the Rev. had some controversial comments right after 911.

I'd rather had a president who was associated with a reverend who ranted against injustice in America than a president who firmly believes that God put him in office and believes that God talks to him.

"What's the difference between Don Imus and Reverend Wright?"

There was truth in Wright's statements.

I don't think the people Obama needs to vote for him in the general election will see the truth through the anger and hatred.

Obama SHOULD have said that hatred is politics of the past, as pointed out in the LA Times Op Ed PapaLovesMambo linked by Michael Meyers the executive director of the NY Civil Rights Coalition and the former assistant director of the NAACP.

Again with this whole religion/spiritual leader question....we have this thing that our country was founded on it is called separation of church and state....the reason the founding fathers had indoctrinate our country in it was because the head of the English church was the King and he could not political decisions for his country with out bringing his religion into it....religion has no business in government and politics

"Cheney did an interview a short while ago where he was asked about Iraq and the fact that so many US soldiers and civilians had died and he said "So?" and then he was asked if he cared what the American people think and he said "No."Uh...why isn't THAT a big deal? Absolutely and this is what I think is messed up with our government...people say anything to be elected and then do whatever the special interest groups, that give them campaign contributions, want them to do. They don't care what the people want or need. Have you noticed that many of our elected officials come from well off and upper middle class backgrounds? The only thing you need to run for office either a well known name or lots of money. These elections aren't about issues it about who can dig up the most dirt on eachother.....who cares if they are having affairs (most of the POTUS have) or have gone to a church were the preacher says some disagreeable things (JFK was a catholic do you think he condoned the sexual abuse scandals)....when will we have an election where we can focus on the issues? Why can't it be this election?

your 2008 nominee: bammy...after blondie wails on him for 5 more months

wow, it's like some people just refuse to look at the heart of what this matter is. since the catholic thing comes up, let's face that.

would it be an issue if a candidate went to a church whose parish priest was found to have molested altar boys? how about if that priest was left in place and the candidate still went there. for twenty some years. how about if the candidate appointed that priest to his campaign's children's outreach program. how about if the candidate wroate a book and titled it with the words of that priest? what if when confronted about the priest's actions he pointed out that while he condemned the pedphilia, he would not condemn the man and that the people who rushed to judgement should look at the body of that priest's work, not merely at the altar boys he'd diddled. because that's more apt analogy.

no one is saying bammy needed to renounce christianity, but by his choice, he associated himself - and indeed tied himself - to a man who preaches the very hatred that bammy supposedly despises. but given similar statements by bammy's own wife, i wonder if he does despise those statements or merely the fact that he has to acknowledge them in any way in the middle of a presidential race.

this is about a twenty-year relationship with a man. it's not about religion. it's not about faith. it's not about a church. it's not about white folks who don't get the black experience. it's about choosing to spend over twenty years cheering on a man who preaches divisive racial rhetoric that serves only to promote victimhood, teach hatred and separate people.

from the weekly standard:

what if i told you in 2004 that the democratic party would run an african american candidate for president in 2008? i tell you national journal will officially label this candidate the most liberal member of the united states senate. this candidate will also have served less than three years in that senate, with no executive, foreign policy, or military experience. then i tell you that this candidate will lose the party's primaries in texas, california, new york, ohio, florida, and pennsylvania. oh, and his minister sounds like louis farrakhan, and actually pals around and gives awards to farrakhan.

yeah, the gop's shakin' in our boots at the idea of facing bammy and rev. kill whitey.
