Hello kids! Back in Chicago. Power failed on PC, but changed out the power supply and am back on-line. Lovely trip to DC. A few vineyards in Virginia and drove through horse country. Very disappointing dinner at DeCarlo's. Diane Rheem (sp) was there. SLOW service.
Back to reality. My Father's Day SUCKED! Oh well.
I just read back three pages and am snorting my lunch soup all over the desk. To continue the theme ...
Last Tuesday night I stopped my the tanning salon to try to get a little color before hitting the pool during the vacation. Then I went home and mowed the lawn and pulled all of the weeks that were growing through my neighbors fence into my yard. Fast forward to Wednesday night after getting about an hour at the pool and I notice that my ankles and entire arms are coverend in tiny, oozing blisters. I think sun poisoning because I've had it before (remember baby oil and iodine?) By Thursday, I look like a bad science experiment and the intense itching begins so I start slathering on aloe and cortisone. It looks worse by Saturday when one of my friends, who is nurse says, that's poison ivy, sumac, blah, blah. I'm now covered in calamine and Ivarest. It's a good look to have pink chalk all over the tops of your hands when you are in a meeting with your boss. Yep, the asshat neighbor is growing the crap and sending it over to me. Get the bail fund ready because I'm going to kill the moron.
Haha, Moony! It's true. He did. I think I was 4ish. He rigged a noose over a beam in the basement, put the noose around my neck, told me to climb up on my play table, and told me to jump. What the hell did I know?! I was just thrilled that my big brother was playing with me!! To this day, when that story is told, he laughs his ass off. His wife always, always smacks him!
Ewwww, Somms!! Ouchie!!

Girly, that explains so much...
Oh, you poor pink SoMMS.
girly - wow. My brother threw me through a wall but I was ultimately ok and I pushed him once running around house and sent him flying (wood floors) into a bed post and almost blinded him for life, but he ended up with just stitches. but those were the only major incidents.
Awww, Somms, that sucks!!! I had poison ivy right before I left for vegas a few years ago. sucked. Hope you heal quickly!!
Hallo!
I remembered two more things from childhood. A surgery when I was seven that I have no clue what it was for and a pumping of the tummy. Damn those St. Joseph's children aspirin! I thought the more I took the quicker I'd get better. Folks went out, came home a few hours later to about 1/2 of a brand new bottle gone. Off to the emergency room we went. Again.
Now. That should definitely be the end of all my trauma's.

Something tells me, though, it's not.
Mornin'
Great night last night. I went to a reading of one of my fellow playwrights, part of the "festival" of our group's work this season. A fabulous play -- even better than mine! Dammit.
Seriously, though, I was thrilled for her; she's been working on this piece for about 2 years, and it's just so damn good. The kind of writing that makes me want to write even more.
So that next year I can make mincemeat out of her work.
Just joking.
No, I'm not.
Morning peeps! I survived the first night of Tech Week!!!! One of the main problems is getting on and off the alter. The sacristy is so small, so these kids need to learn to keep moving until they're out the back door. They think once they can't been seen they can just stop and talk. WTF is wrong with kids today? Can't they keep quiet? They're so loud and obnoxious! I wish I was the King because I'd have them all beheaded!
Hey Deet, I found out that a close friend's daughter will be attending FIT after she graduates next year. Hmmmmmm
What's her major?
Some kind of Design. We think she'd be good at Set Design because she is wonderful at period pieces. She loves to do research. She's thinking interior design, but so much of that is modern nowadays. She is such a sweet, bright girl. Honor society and all that. She just won an award for a short film she did for her school. It was the viewers choice award. If you met her you'd love her.
Two suggestionns for her: Visual Presentation and Design (which used to be called Display and Exhibition Design), or Interior Design. Both are excellent programs.
I know a few of the faculty in VPAD, but not in ID. One thought for her: VPAD offers a wider range of career options in the design field. ID is all interior design. It's also one of the hardest majors in the school; by the 3rd week of every semester you can tell which students are ID from the way they walk through the halls: wide-eyed, sluggish yet hopped up on caffeine and whatever else...
Deet, would you mind talking with her one day? Perhaps we can arrange for you guys to come down for a nice dinner. I know she'd love your input.
Sure!
Great! I'll see her and her Mom & Dad at my birthday performance. I'll talk to them then. Thanks!

I'd like to have dinner with Deet, but without the whole college enrollment thing. Been there, done that. Twice.
Down 2.2 pounds since Saturday! Who needs those nasty carbs? Well, I do, but there are things I need more.
It's going to be in the mid 90s here for the rest of the week. I'm flying down to the Gulf Coast Thursday morning, so I figure I'm in training here today and tomorrow.

Mooney - we were also in Alexandria for a art/craft show on Saturday - lovely day!
Warm and stormy here! The girls are still fighting and we are taking the two of them to dinner to try to mediate.

Yes indeed, nice conversations with him last night. He received his teacher assignmnents. Two that one of the girls had, random others. Another tough schedule, 3 AP courses.
Happy Tuesday Adults. Our new General Counsel is in the office today, sitting in the office next to me. A nice guy, but no inside voice - drives me nuts!
Go Moony Go!

Y, we have a lawyer here that I can hear 4 offices down! One of my best friends, he might move into the old man's office after I poison him!
Morning peeps! I just need to make it through this day without killing any colleagues and then I can start vacation in peace.
