It was espresso chip, as I wandered through Sumatra and mixed with the cacao nibs of Valhrona, I felt in heaven. And then I awoke, captured by the enemy forces of sugar and fat, the depths of which I could not fully contemplate. I struggled against their holds, as they breathed into me the temptation and sin of chocolate.

Friday is May Day, and there are planned demonstrations for immigration rights all over LA. Tens of thousands of people are planned to come downtown for various protests. Some of the organizing events are right outside my office...

With the whole possibility of a pandemic flu epidemic out there, why would anyone want to have these demonstrations?

The LA Board of Supervisors considered the issue, and so far, have not pulled the permits.

The estimate we received was 130,00 coming for various protests.

My boss actually called to ask the LA PD "WTF" and they said that the LA County Supervisors had met yesterday and agreed to let the demonstrations proceed.

I am hoping the reconsider before Friday. My office is literally ground zero for a couple of the protests. No one is going outside on Friday if the demonstrations go forward, and if they have to, will probably wear masks. I would not be surprised if many people decided to stay home just to avoid the mess.

I really wish Somms had a FB page and put that up for his status every so often.

I really need to take some days. I think I've only taken a few so far, and I get another week the end of October. At the rate I'm going, I'll have to take the month of December off.
