Greetings adults...
Wow, a PBS special would be excellent! I wish they would broadcast more shows for those of us who love theater but can't get to NYC as often as we'd like. It would spread the word about shows, encourage people to see the tours, and make bigger names of the stars.

Isn't it being aired on PBS in Mid June???
I thought that was there was a press release about it last month...

Tonight is the South Pacific concert.
On PBS? They're airing last Saturday's concert?

Some enchanted evening
Someone may be laughin',
You may hear her laughin'
Across a crowded room
And night after night,
As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter
Will sing in your dreams.

I remembered something else. There was an older couple sitting in the row when I got there. The woman was in my seat. As she's rummaging through her purse looking for their tickets to check the seat numbers (guess she didn't believe me), I notice she's sitting there with her shoes off. She finally located the stubs, and they move over a seat. She leaves her shoes in front of my seat! As I was about to say something to her about her shoes, she realizes I'm not sitting down yet, looks down and sees her shoes. She then pushed them in front of her. A little bit later she got up to go get one of those hearing aid things. I had hoped when she came back, she'd leave her shoes on. Nope. Took them off again.
Then a family of six showed up to sit to my right. They had four boys ranging from maybe 8ish to 13ish. The parents sat between me and them. I think I would've preferred sitting next to one of the boys. The mother ate peanut M&M's from a baggie throughout most of the show. I never realized how much those things stink. During intermission, the younger boy was running up and down the stairs and running into the box seats. Parents never said a word. The older one went all the way over to the box seats on the other side of the theatre and started waving to the rest of the family from there. They all waved back and laughed at him. The mom shifted in her seat alot. For a while she had her legs out on the bottom of the rail in front of us, like she was sitting in a recliner. She alternated between that position and putting her feet up on the chair with her knees against her chest. At least the six of them were quiet during the show.

It never ceases to amaze me, girly.
I've said to friends that I seem to have a special gift for getting seats next to people who are CLUELESS about proper behavior in a theatre and during a performance. There have been times when it has had a very negative effect on my enjoyment of the show.
I wish the theatres would stop selling candy!
And, what is it about people taking their shoes off? When I went to see Pajama Game the large man seated next to my friend took his shoes off and crossed his leg so that his sock-clad foot practically landed on my friend!
...and the woman behind us sang along with all the songs.
I wanted to scream.
Wow... as much as I sometimes complain about our audiences dress code and sometimes lack of respect, I've never experienced anything like that.
I do know that I fidget when I sit for too long... I'm sure I annoy those around me.
I don't mind the ones that fidget all that much. Sometimes, I get antsy, too. When I went to the first preview of Measure For Pleasure, a man sitting in the front row on the side, was dozing off throughout most of the first act. When intermission came and the lights came up, I realized he had taken his sneakers off. Did he think he was in his living room?? He put them on and left. He never came back afterwards.

One of my other pet peeves:
Women who go to the theatre with hair-dos that pile their hair up on their head, or have gigantic hair... I usually end up sitting behind them and hate when I can't see the full stage because of someone's HAIR!
oh, and I also can't stand men and women who are drenched in after-shave or perfume. I am allergic to most and get terrible headaches... I don't understand how they think that taking a bath in a scent is a good thing!
Being tall and having no sense of smell can be a blessing.
But candy un-wrappers BEWARE!
That last one is a major pet peeve of mine all the time. I like cologne, but just a mist of it.
Yeah, the scent thing is a biggie for me, too. Sometimes, I'll get in an elevator at work and actually hold my nose if I'm alone, hold my breath or block my nose somehow if others are there. I think some people bathe in the stuff.

I am VERY sensitive to smell. I love stores like Lush, but I can only spend limited amounts of time in there... I start getting queasy.
I hear ya, DD. The one and only time I was able to spend a decent amount of time in Yankee Candle, was when I had a cold.

I'm the same way, DD. Strong scents and I don't get along.
And then, of course, there's the cell phone issue. After intermission, especially.
When I was at DRS in December, the dude next to me got a phone call on his cell phone, AND TOOK IT!!!
whine of the day: SO under the new CotD rules, when someone is known to be absent, they let him/her be CotD the next day and pick someone else for the day. Why wasn't that in effect the day I was CotD. It was pretty strict that you were chosen for that day and that was it, even though it was known that I was OUT OF THE COUNTRY!!! I totally missed out on the festivities...
*ends whine*
DD, we'll make you CotD in this thread if you want!
I'm sorry you weren't able to fully enjoy your day.
DD, "What's your favorite comfort meal?" "What inspires you?" *giggle*
*embarassed* Aw shucks! That was not my intent... I was just whining... now I feel self conscious. *blushes* But Ok!
Comfort meal:
My mom's rice and beans. I tell you, no one on this Earth makes better rice (plain white rice) better than my mother. It's the only white rice I can eat alone. And then add her black beans... I'm set for life.
What inspires me?
Intelligence, humility and self motivation. My maternal grandfather is the inspiration of my life. Out of school in 2nd grade to support his family, he worked hard all his life, was a 'congressman' for his county 3 times, loved his family, his town, and always put other's needs before his own. Literally a man who would give you the shirt of his back.
