good morning mominator! I got off work super early yesterday. My friend loaned me her car and Jarico and I hit the outlet mall. Today we're going to IKEA and then Halsted Market Days (kind of like the Pride Fest in NYC).

Of course I remember Boo Boo Kitty. And Scooter Pies!

Penny Marshall says the pepsi in milk thing was her idea for the L&S show because she adores it.

Never tried it myself.

Okay, confession time: Who had a pet rock?

Has a big glass of ovaltine this morning. Yummy!

And, I just realized how long it's been since I had REAL oatmeal and not just the stuff in the instant packets...

Oh, and what I wouldn't give for a box of sugar crips! Remember that bear doing the psuedo bing crosby voice "Can't get enough my sugar crisp, sugar crisp..."

Killer Scrabble...

Wow. I haven't been to a game night for awhile. We used to do tons of boardgames at slumberparties and then late night parties as we got older.

Clue...I just hated not winning that game.

I used to know some folks while I was in high school who drank scotch and milk.

What a waste of good scotch.

Just back from gym, dinner at home and a movie (THE LION IN WINTER), tomorrow 8am Mass, then 3 PENNY OPERA in the afternoon at the Jean Cocteua Rep. Wonderful score sung unamplified. I saw it last year and it was exceptionally good.

Remember Bobby Daren and "Mack The Knife"?

Hi Gang..just got my Deluxe Spirograph in the mail..guess what I'll be doing tonight??? Also I just wanted to say to all of you:

Nice To Be With You
( Gallery )

Oh, it's so nice to be with you
I love all the things you say and do
And it's so nice to hear you say
You're gonna please me in every way
Honey, I got the notion
You're causin' commotion in my soul

Baby, you and me have got somethin' that's real
I know it's gonna last a lifetime
Aww, you better believe it, girl
At night I call your name
Darkness fills my room, I'm only dreamin'
About the time I'm gonna be with you

Oh, it's so nice to be with you
I love all the things you say and do
And it's so nice to hear you say
You're gonna please me in every way
Honey, I got the notion
You're causin' commotion in my soul

When I'm feelin' down
You're there to pick me up and help me to carry on
Aww, little things mean a lot
When you need a shoulder to cry on
I'm there to ease the pain and chase away the rain
Aww, Darlin', I just gotta say

Oh, it's so nice to be with you
I love all the things you say and do
And it's so nice to hear you say
You're gonna please me in every way
Honey, I got the notion
You're causin' commotion in my soul

Oh, it's so nice to be with you
I love all the things you say and do
And it's so nice to hear you say
You're gonna please me in every way

Oh, it's so nice to be with you...

Wow! My last post was on page 59 and that was exactly a week ago. I have been gone on a little vacation on a lake with no internet contact and while I had a great time I couldn't wait to see if the thread was still going. Not only was it still going but it's like the plant in Little Shop - it's taking over the board. It will take me all week to catch up on all that I have missed. However at the lake I was doing some of the things we reminesce about like bike rides, campfires on the beach with hot dogs and smores, laying in the sun all day with sunscreen of course(not like the old days). And in the car up and back I listened to some of my favorite broadway recordings. Great time but now I'm home and will be around until I have to start back to work the end of August.

Glad to see you're back bwayaddict. Glad you had a good time at the lake and that you wore sunblock. So which Broadway recordings were you listening to?

Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)

chorus*
lay down lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the
ones who stand and frown
lay down lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the
ones who stand and frown*

we were so close, there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we all had caught the same disease
and we all sang the songs of peace

chorus

so raise the candles high cause if you
don't we could stay black against the night
oh raise them higher again and if you
do we could stay dry against the rain

chrous

we were so close there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we all had caught the same disease
and we all sang the songs of peace
some came to sing, some came to pray
some came to keep the dark away
so raise the candles high
cause if you don't we could stay
black against the sky
oh oh raise them higher again
and if you do we could stay dry against the rain

chorus

Brand new rollerskates song--actually rollerskated in my bestfriend's house to that and other 45's (Winchester Cathedral was a fave, Herman's Hermits, etc). The upperstair had wood floors and we would skate in and out of the bedrooms, up and down the hall. Her grandma was napping in her little apartment on the other side of the landing so she didn't hear us. I'm sure her folks must have noticed the marks...but we kept doing it.

Hopscotch...i was trying to remember how to draw the sections on the sidewalk....

bwayboobs: a little late but I started out with Wicked, then picked randomly without looking since I was driving alone, choices were The Last Five Years, Gypsy, Songs for a New World, and Urinetown. Listening makes the drive go fast.

New topic - roller skating used to be one of my favorite hobbies. The local roller skating rink used to be the only thing to do in the small town I grew up in. We had a man who used to actually play the organ while we skated. I just saw him and the organ in the bicentennial celebration parade last weekend in Ohio.

Do you remember those metal rollerskates that used to slip over your shoes??? I would run home from school everyday and slip them on and go out. Now remember I grew up in a city so we would rollerskate in the street. Well there was a hill by me that we would skate down and because it was hard to stop with those skates we would just bang into the curb and fall onto the sidewalk to stop... can't tell you how many times to stop myself from falling on my face I'd put my hands out and they would wind up in dog poop. YUK !!! No poopy scoopers back then.

I love my roller skates. They had leather straps.

Was I the only child who slip garbage can lids on his shoes....to tap dance like Gene Kelly in "It's Always Fair Weather"?

Oh, Boobs, for the Ritz party, white towels for all a de rigeur.

I used to take tap dancing lessons and it's still on one of the things I would stll like to do list. Of course, I also took ballet and baton lessons but I wasn't very good at anything.

Dance was not a problem for me,as a matter of fact it came very easy to me....now sports was another story. Talk about NOT being good at something. I tried...I really tried...the closest sport I ever came close to being good at is bowling.
