Morning DG...Raining Men still gets everyone going. It's just one of those songs that will never die.
Let's talk about everyone's guilty pleasure, Abba. I just finished working out to my recent favorite CD Abbalicious....all Abba songs performed by NYC Drag Queens.
What are your favorite Abba songs?
Mine are Voulez Vous and Chiqutita. I hated Chiquitita before Abbalicious. I got an advance copy from my friend Edie, one of the performers on the CD and she does her version of the song. I fell in love with it after hearing her.

I adore ABBA, and long before Mamma Mia came out.
The Winner Takes it All really resonates with me, as does Slipping Through My Fingers.
But I LOVE Angeleyes. It's so facetious!
And I love the Weathergirls...
humidity's rising....
Just one Abba song, impossible. So here's my list...
1 Waterloo (what is not to love about this song?)
2 Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)
3 Mamma Mia
4 Chiquitita
5 Does Your Mother Know?
6 Slipping Through My Fingers
#6 Also has special meaning to me, because my oldest daughter had a very serious suicide attempt he first year in college, and we very nearly lost her. She just got married in June and is expecting in September ( I am too young to be a grandmother but I am soo looking forward to it!)
One of my favorite Abba songs is ...Honey,Honey.
Waterloo is number one? Edie also does Waterloo on Abbalicious. I love her rendition of it.
Reminds me of the summer of '78. Every year when we went to Wildwood, we had a "song". That's all you heard blaring out all over the boardwalk, any boardwalk that year. I can picture us going backwards on the Himalaya with the lights and the music.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.
Puppies are babies in fur coats.
Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
Nina...can we buy this CD somewhere??? It sounds like a lot of fun.

I sang Slipping for my mom at my graduating concert.
It's just one of those songs that gets you.
Yes Nina where can we buy the CD?
I'm not sure if it's been released yet. I'll email my friend and see if s/he, whatever it is this afternoon, knows the release date. I'll let you know.

Wildwood...that reminds me of the Novelty song:
WILDWOOD WEED
Jim Stafford (spoken)
The wildwood flower grew wild on the farm,
And we never knowed what it was called.
Some said it was a flower and some said it was weed,
I never gave it much thought ......
One day I was out there talking to my brother,
Reached down for a weed to chew on,
Things got fuzzy and things got blurry,
And then everything was gone!
Didn't know what happened,
But I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap.
I come to and my brother was there,
And he said, What's wrong with your eyes?
I said, I don't know, I was chewing on a weed.
He said, Let me give it a try.
We spent the rest of that day and most of that night,
Trying to find my brother, Bill.
Caught up with him, 'bout six o'clock the next morning,
Naked, swinging on the wind mill!
He said he flew up there.
I had to fly up there and bring him down,
He was about half crazy .....
The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds,
And put 'em in the sun to dry.
Then we mashed 'em up and chopped 'em up,
And put 'em in the corncob pipe.
Smokin' that wildwood flower got to be a habit,
We didn't see no harm.
We thought it was kind of handy,
Take a trip and never leave the farm!
All good things gotta come to an end,
And it's the same with the wildwood weed.
One day this feller from Washington came by,
And he spied and turned white as a sheet.
Then they dug and they burned,
And they burned and they dug,
And they killed all our cute little weeds.
Then they drove away,
We just smiled and waved ..........
Sittin' there on that sack of seeds!
Y'all come back now, hear?

MM a question, do you prefer the ABBA version of "Under Attack" or how it was done in "Mamma Mia"? Both are cute but I think I like the "Mamma Mia" version better.
Any other Abba fans care to weigh in on the changes to some of the songs?
Oh boy a new tangent this thread is taking!

Does "Mamma Mia" perform the songs fairly close to the original or are most of them changed in some way?

Most of them are quite close to the original.
"Under Attack" was changed, as was "Does Your Mother Know" (not so much the words but usuall it was one of the guys singing it. I believe it was Benny) "Chiquitita" was also changed. That is all I can think of off the top of my head.
Anyone else?

Love your new signature.
Oh Mr. Graaaant! Just like Oh, Rooob!
I so loved it when Mary and Rhoda were together. What fun. And then Phyllis Lindstrom and her unseen husband Lars. So many laughs. And wasn't Bess the name of Phyllis and Lars' daughter? She called her parents by their first names...

I LOVE IT!
I guarded my fan club stuff so carefully. Like it was somehow going to become a treasured antique at one point.
The day my Monkees lunchbox and thermos got lost I was practically unconsolable. Such tragedy!
Aaah...the Monkees...I feel a song coming on...
