I was reading another thread and Iflitifloat mentioned "Up With People"...does anyone remember them??? In my Catholic grammar school they used to make us sing their song...talk about a flash from the past....
It happened just this mornin' while I was walking down the street
A milkman, and a postman, and a policeman I did meet
There in every window, at every single door
I recognized people I'd never noticed before.
Up, up with people! You meet wherever you go!
Up, up with people! They're the best kind of folks we know
If more people were for people
All people everywhere
There'd be a lot less people to worry about
And a lot more people who'd care.

Yes I remember Up Up with People. I'm sure a lot of those "people" were probably wannabee broadway stars back then. I do remember seeing a group of them perform somewhere. I think there is something similar to that still today. Can't remember the name though.

Iflit was comparing them to Polyphonic Spree ..is this the group you were thinking of?

I've never heard of Polyp whatever. Up Up with People was a group that traveled and performed and promoted good will among people and there's a similar group like that today that college age kids can join to travel and perform. My brain is not clicking in on the name. Ahhhhh!

There's a group out of Southern California that does that type of thing called The Citrus Singers.

Boobs - yes
Undiscovered - there was a decided conservative bent to the organization.
Just a comment - I get to watch the sunset on the mountains here when I'm at the computer in the evening, and I think late afternoon/early evening sunlight is my favorite of the day. So golden and warm. Although, the crispness and purity of first light is always a good thing, too

That's been my big adjustment as I've moved slowly across the country. I grew up with sunRISES over the ocean, and now have sunSETS. In the end, I'll take either one - as long as it is done in peace.

I was lucky spending my summers down the Jersey shore because I would get up early with my cousins and we'd go lay on the beach to watch the Sunrise and then at night my friends and me would go to the bay to watch the sunset. I loved those peaceful moments.

Boobs - I've got to tell you, I refuse NOT to have those peaceful moments still in my life. I've decided that it's just not worth letting the world dictate my existence. And while it can be argued that much of us are in a state of total chaos, I am determined to be the architect of my own life. So, I take time to soak in all the beauty around me, and let the ugliness filter on through. It's an amazing world we live in - and I am happily stunned every day to discover the brilliance in its simplistic complexity.

DG...please stop posting and start working on that book !!!! Gang is it me or does DG just write so beautifully? He is such an inspiration. When he writes I can see, feel (emotionally) and sometimes even smell what he is talking about. What a talent. I wish I had half of his writing skills. Praises to DG.

Boobs - if anything, it would be subtitled 'inspired by the adult smokers' lives'
In all actuality, it will be dedicated to my mother, who is also my best friend. I'll share something with you that she wrote for me when I graduated. It's a cross-stitch she did, that is hanging right by my head as I type this:
SON
Think freely, feel deeply,
reach for the sky.
You have failed only when
you have failed to try.
Welcome love, dream dreams,
wish on a star.
The best part of you is
who you really are.
I have carried that with me wherever I go, and in its simplistic message is contained all I've ever needed to get through anything that life has brought to me. As I've often said, she not only gave me life, but taught me how to live it

Dg..that is so beautiful...that's so nice that you and your Mom have such a wonderful relationship. I had a similar relationship with my Mom...I used to take her to a Broadway show on Father's Day because I felt she deserved to be celebrated on that day too. She raised 4 kids on her own. She left this world to young...only 61 years old. You brought both a smile and tear to my eyes with that story. Thanks for sharing.

hey all,
No luck with agents but I had to work today...and that was a story in itself.
I need to find a good, soft couch in a well-known talent agent's office and do my best work, I think.
