Morning all!! Check out the new message... There is NEWS on the Miss Lizzie front.
Good Morning everyone.
Mom... keep us posted on Lizzie's arrival.
Nina... I want to find this counterfeit Nina and squash her/him like a bug. There is only one Nina...the original Siren herself and that's you !!! There are just to many wannabes out there. Time for me to make some calls.
Bwaysinger...did you find an apartment and not tell us? Like DG, I didn't see anything posted. Does the 18 year old know more than the adults??? I usually don't give spankings out on a Tuesday, but I may have to make an exception if this statement is true. Now spill your guts !!!
BTW...this is the title for Mom's thread...Here we go!! Lizzie news!
What a morning. Elizabeth is on her way, BWsinger may have found a new apartment and Nina has to share her name with another member (not that anyone could ever be mistaken for her).
So, how was everyone else's Labor day weekend? I spent mine laboring except for Monday which was spent at a cookout with the family of a friend of my boyfriend. It was somewhat surreal. A huge Italian family cookout which included three Vinnies, two Pasquales and couple of Ginas sitting at a long table set up under the grape arbor and a Mary on the half shell watching over the party from the vegetable garden.
Mom, keep us posted on the arrival of the new diva in the family.
Orion...sounds like you were at one of my childhood family gatherings. Anyone doing the Tarentella???
Glad to hear you had a fun Labor Day and didn't have to work.
Have a wonderful day today Orion.
The Tarentella was the only thing missing. Lots of home made wine and sausage with peppers.
I did work the whole weekend except Monday. My job with Cirque Du Soliel is over and I'm back to looking for something else...after a little vacation in Maine where I'll lay on the beach and read I, Lucifer.
I've never been to Maine, but sounds nice and relaxing. You deserve it...you've worked enough for awhile. Time for relaxation darling.
Good morning all!! I feel like I need Cliff notes to catch up since I didn't log on at all this past weekend. Bad SOMMS! But, I had a relaxing, end of summer weekend away from all computers, phones and thoughts of work. Good bye Frances! Hello Elizabeth! My thoughts and prayers are with you Mom as the arrival gets closer. Okay, funny story! I'm in Barnes and Noble picking up books last evening and can't for the life of me remember the title of our book club offering. All I remember is that it's about the devil inhabiting a body, etc. I don't know the authors last name. I approach the clerk to have her look it up and tell her that it's something with "Devil" in the title. No luck. Then I start second guessing myself and say try "Vampire". Don't even ask where that came from!!! No luck! Neeless to say, I drove the poor girl batty for a half hour and left without a book. SOMMS is senile! I did pick up the new Marc Acito book "How I Paid for College : A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship & Musical Theater"
Perhaps it should be our next read simply because of the title. Here's a synopsis:
How I Paid for College : A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship & Musical Theater
How I Paid for College is a comic novel about a talented, but irresponsible, teenager who schemes to steal his college tuition money when his wealthy father refuses to pay for acting school.
It’s 1983 in Wallingford, New Jersey, a sleepy bedroom community outside of Manhattan. Seventeen-year-old Edward Zanni, a feckless Ferris Bueller-type, is Peter Panning his way through a carefree summer of magic and mischief, sending underwear up flagpoles and re-arranging lawn animals in compromising positions. The fun comes to a screeching halt, however, when Edward’s father remarries and refuses to pay for Edward to study acting at Juilliard.
In a word, Edward’s screwed. He’s ineligible for scholarships because his father earns too much. He’s unable to contact his mother because she’s somewhere in Peru trying to commune with the Incan spirits. And, in a sure sign he’s destined for a life in the arts, Edward's incapable of holding down a job. ("One little flesh wound on a Pekingese is all it takes to get fired as a dog groomer, even if you artfully arrange its hair so the scar doesn't show.")
So Edward turns to his loyal (but immoral) misfit theater pals to help him steal the tuition money from his father. Disguising themselves as nuns and priests (because who's going to question the motives of a bunch of nuns and priests), they merrily scheme their way through embezzlement, money laundering, identity theft, forgery, and blackmail.
But along the way Edward also learns the value of friendship, hard work and how you’re not really a man until you can beat up your father. (Metaphorically, that is.)
How I Paid for College is a farcical coming-of-age story, as if Catcher in the Rye were performed by the kids from Fame.
How I Paid for College is a book for anyone who’s ever had a dream…and a scheme.
SOMMS... that book sounds very intriguing. Do you know know the name of our 1st. book though??? "I,Lucifer".
I looked it up on the thread this morning Boobs. So back to B&N I go this evening. That poor girl will run and hide or quit when she sees me!
Thinking of Anna this morning and all she is going through right about now...I remembered this song.....
PAUL: Havin' my baby
What a lovely way of sayin' how much you love me
Havin' my baby
What a lovely way of sayin' what you're thinkin' of me
I can see it, face is glowin'
I can see in your eyes, I'm happy you know it
BOTH: That you're havin' my baby
PAUL: You're the woman I love and I love what it's doin' to ya
BOTH: Havin' my baby
PAUL: You're a woman in love and I love what's goin' through ya
PAUL: The need inside you, I see it showin'
Whoa, the seed inside ya, baby, do you feel it growin'?
Are you happy you know it? That you're
BOTH: Havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me
BOTH: Havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me
PAUL: Didn't have to keep it
Wouldn't put ya through it
You could have swept it from you life
But you wouldn't do it, no, you wouldn't do it
BOTH: And you're havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me
BOTH: Havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me
PAUL: Havin' my baby (havin' my baby)
What a lovely way of sayin' how much you love me
FADE
PAUL: Havin' my baby (havin' my baby)
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me
Morning all -- hope you all had a fine Labor day weekend....
The Rvainia Concert of Sunday in the Park was sublime -- is there is nothing Audra McDonald can't do? She soared through teh score and the Move On with her and Michael was a moment of pure music perfection....
I need to read through the treads -- a Nina imposter? Bway has a new home perhaps....Boobs has yet a new icon....things they are a changing!

Friday night - cocktail party with other teachers to celebrate getting through the first week of school.
Saturday - street fair in Orange with great food and a wonderful Irish band.
Sunday - getting things done around the house and then movies and ice cream with my honey.
Monday - the big celebration party for the cast and crew of the summer Shakespeare festival.
Al-in-all, a very good weekend
mom - keep the updates current! I'll help push from this end.
Boobs - I'm LOVING Lucifer! A real writer's writer.
DG I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm enjoying it too, when I get the chance to read it. I feel like I read a paragraph when I'm at home and Grandma is interupting me with a question that usually takes about 20 minutes to answer. It seems the medication is making her more aggitated. My only chance to read is usually on the bus. I see in Glen Duncan's writing so far, a very similar style to yours.

Boobs - I wouldn't mind having his publication deal
DG...I have faith that one day you will have a better publication deal than him.
Good morning. I guess it's been a busy weekend for evereyone. Elizabeth is on her way and The Boy pmed to say he found an apartment, Orion is off to Maine and KMF has returned from what sounds like a wonderful concert.
Good Morning Nina darling. I have a new pot of coffee brewing. Need to keep Mom caffeined up today.
It was Nina -- there are a few things I could "pick" on, but why bother -- it was a glorious night in Chicago, nice picnic with my best friend, some good wine beforehand and then Audra singig her heart out....
I need to get the I, Lucifer book -- I am simply not getting into my current reads, so I might as well try this one and something to contribute to the book discussion
It sounds great. Audra has one of the most magnificent voices I have heard in years.

I listen to the Ragtime OBC recording and try to imagine what it was like to hear her and Stokes Mitchell singing live together.
OH DG -- you bring back memories of Ragtime -- there are amazing together -- I actaully got to see her and BSM in LA at the pre-Broadway of Ragtime -- they got better as the show ran....they and Marin were one of the reasons I went back often....
DG...just so you know..it was amazing watching them on stage together. 2 of the most amazing voices I've heard in a long time. Seeing them perform in Ragtime was an experience I will always treasure.
I saw them in Ragtime and it was a fantastic performance. They had a wonderful onstage chemistry between them. Brian's voice brings chills to me when I hear him sing. He is also an extremely attractive and very sweet man. Talk about chills, his devilish smile and warm eyes combined with the darling personality just made me tingle.
