Leanza Cornett, Miss America 1994 actually bought me a crown of my own several years ago, so I no longer have to resort to thievery. It has a place of honor in the "Miss America Bathroom" in my home.

SOMMS - what an image!
Boobs - awww....nice to 'see' your icon again!
Thanks!
Hi Mom, DG, and anyone else I've missed.
I was in early this morning for an interview - I think the kid was a little terrified. I don't look too pretty...
So, of course now everyone in the office is cracking up...picturing me on the Red Carpet this weekend. I think I need to do the mysterious sunglasses thing!
I actually feel like a bus hit me today, so might try to go home early. (but then again - you all make me feel better, so maybe I'll just stay and play...

Good morning all.
Somms, very sorry to hear about your friend. I'm also intrigued by a Miss America bathroom.
Boobs, Take Me Out will be coming to Boston this winter. I didn't get to see it in NY so I'll be going here. I'll have to look for your friend.

NY - why am I getting the feeling you're underplaying how bad this attack was? Do they have this person in custody?

NY, I just read about your assault. I do hope you're ok in spite of how you may look. It sounds like it was a terrible day yesterday for so many on this thread.

Morning O - I didn't get to chime in yesterday and say how extraordinarily beautiful Ms. Edie is - what classic features! I'd really like to see his show.

Thanks, Orion. And DG. And all the rest of you who are being so kind!
Yes, they caught the guy. Right away. He nailed me and there were people right there who grabbed him (amazing!), and cops were right there as well. I honestly believe he was on drugs, or not thinking clearly, because it was NOT a good corner to mug someone one. It was crowded. (And DG - I'm not much into personal drama, so I guess I am underplaying it a bit - I wasn't even going to mention it - but then I remembered that horoscope...) Don't worry about me - I'm FINE!
Oh - and you'll all enjoy this - one of my co-workers just brought me a bouquet of 'black-eyed susans'... What a bunch of nuts I work with!

On a very serious note. I also hope that you are not underplaying the attack. All violence needs to be reported and dealt with by the authorities. I was the victim of a gaybashing in New Hope several years ago that left me with a black eye, two broken ribs and 36 stitches. I hesitated at reporting it at the time, but thank goodness I did. It turned out that my attackers had in fact kidnapped, raped and murdered a woman the week before; then robbed and beat a man at gunpoint the week after. Three of the five are serving life terms. My testimony helped put them there and it helped me to put the experience in perspective and to take something positive away from it.

NY - I'm sure you're fine, but you've made it clear you prefer to not draw attention to yourself. Just make sure you take care of the needs you have! I'm glad they caught him.

The black eyed susans are a riot. It's nice that have co-workers/freinds who can help you laugh about it and make it easier. I understand the desire to downplay the incident with otehrs but, don't downplay so much in your mind that you repress the fears and anxieties that naturally come with such an attack. It's better to deal with those things and move beyond them.

Dear Lord, SOMMS! What a story. You must still be haunted by that!
I have to go to the police precinct later today to sign the report. I have no idea what the deal with this kid (and that's what makes me sad - he didn't seem to be more than a kid) will be. If it's a first time offense, maybe this will scare him into a life of honesty. If it's not, then he should be handled accordingly. I'll do my part, because I absolutely believe in establising law and order!
I'm also amazed that the attack on you took place in New Hope. It's such an open, tolerant area. At least I thought it was. (My sister lives nearby and they used to own a B&B in Lambertville, so I know it well).
