I just went to make sure that my living room VCR was taping properly, and caught a moment of Jefferson Mays (I'm taping Charlie Rose). How great is he??
Ok - back to the memories - sorry to inject reality into the thread...
Anybody need a refill on anything??
Anyone remember going to the movies to see "The Mark of the Devil" ? We said it was reated "V" for vomit. When we walked into the theatre they handed us vomit bags. Today that movie would be rated "G".
Lol - Bboobs!! I don't remember the movie - but love your description!
I remember when 'surround sound' came out. It was mostly just annoying and gave me a headache...

So - Holiday specials on TV.
I know that they still play many of them, but in this day and age of tapes and DVDs when kids can watch whatever they want to watch at any time, it's just not the same.
I lived for the Charlie Brown Halloween special (the great pumpkin) and the Christmas specials - from Rudolph to Frosty...to the various variety entertainment shows we mentioned about 50 pages ago...

THE WIZARD OF OZ was the ONLY holiday special in my opinion.
I never really cared for the others much.

And as you might be able to guess, THE WIZARD OF OZ every Thanksgiving was a religious experience.
I absolutely have to watch the shows when they're actually shown on t.v. It's just not the same putting in a tape/DVD. My friends just don't understand that. Rudolph and The Grinch were my favorites.

DGrant - Yes. I've seen it three times. It was brilliant. Each time I saw something different - and hope I can see it again. I'm so excited about taping Charlie Rose tonight with the three of them on it!

Ok - drinks - Bar is open. Help yourselves. I've put some party mix in a big bowl, and will start the jiffy pop in a minute. Then we'll move on to the sweet snacks.
Jack and the Beanstalk...I haven't seen that in years !!! Anyone even know who what is in it???
My brother and I lived for The March Of The Wooden Soldiers on Thanksgiving. We were estranged for a couple of years, and I couldn't even watch a smidge of it during that time.

bdway girl - your friends on this thread understand!
and, I'm the same way...specials on TV only when the network airs them!
And, yes, The Wizard of Oz was the most special special of all!
Elaine Stritch is on theatre talk right now. Re-Run I'm sure.
Bboobs, I remember Jack and the Beanstalk...
