Telling ghost stories -
and then lying awake at night in my cot terrified of every sound I heard - or imagined I heard!

the lake was FREEZING...
and the counselors, who were in their late teens, were more interested in eachother than any of us...
I later became a camp counselor, so I know of what I speak...
I was the director of Arts & Crafts.
Talk about the perfect job!
My mom always messed up the lyrics (one in particular...Life in the vaseline; instead of Life in the fast lane!)
NYadgal - LOL!!!! I'm at work and now everyone is wondering what the heck is going on over here!!! Priceless.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.
Puppies are babies in fur coats.
Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
...yeah, it was pretty embarassing...
(and I just don't even want to speculate as to why she thought that would even BE a lyric...)
Another misheard lyric....
"He's got the whole world, in his pants.."
Misheard lyriscs (Mondegreens) I could fill up tons of bandwith
I have 4 books of them!
mom - you should start a thread...I bet it would give this one a run for it's money.
Think I will, BRB!!
(Man thinkk of all the bandwith we are chewing up!)
"He's got the whole world, in his pants.."
Hey, I know that guy.
Lucky you Nina!
What about some of those great old game shows like What's My Line with Arlene Francis. I loved the way she always had to recurl her lashes after wearing the mask in the celebrity round. To Tell The Truth with Kitty Carlisle and her fabulous sequined evening dresses and diamonds. Updated On: 8/2/04 at 05:57 PM
Man as a kid I always thought that Kitty Carlisle had the most amazing wardrobe ever!
They were all so clever and glamorous!
...a few years later - I used to love "Let's Make A Deal".
My sister and I used to plan what we would have with us - for the end part of the show when he told people he'd pay them $5 for a toothbrush, or something sort of obscure.
and I LOVED Concentration!
I used to watch those shows with my grandmother and she used to love to tell me that Kitty Carlisle never wore the same dress twice. I was so jealuos of her wardrobe.
Let's Make A Deal was fun. I also liked Truth or Consequences and of course The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game.
Password was fun, also.
and - on the 'talk show' front: I loved David Frost. He seemed so bright and personable!
...by the way...
I couldn't get the link to work earlier, but for a real Spirograph walk down memory lane - google "Sams Toybox" (one word)..
Click on the link that says: Sam's Toybox - The Coolest Toys Ever Made
scroll down to Spirograph - and see the original!
Password was best when Betty White was guest. As far as talk shows, I used to love the Mike Douglas Show and the Merve Griffin Show.
Did anyone rush home to watch Dark Shadows like I did?
We did discuss Dark Shadows earlier in the thread, Nina. I did however love What's My Line, and also Merv and Mike.
Ok gang I'm home..let the party begin...pass the Kamikazies and let the memories begin. Please hand me the slinky so I can send it down the stairs.
Loved "To Tell the Truth", "Password", "Truth or Consequences",
Merv and Mike. Dark Shadows scared the hee-bee gee-bees out of me. Do you remember how lame and poor the end credits were back when it was always in B&W? I would love how one days show would be in B&W the then the next in color. (Of course I didn't find this out until a couple of years ago when the Sci-Fi chanel ran it in the mornings, and now have a color TV!)
Yeah there is another question do they still make B&W TV's?
My 93 yr.old grandmother refuses to let go of her B&W TV. Kind of neat watching a baseball game on it though.

I loved my spirograph and all the different wheels!
My parents both love to sing and sometimes messed up the lyrics.
And some singers just don't enunciate clearly enough. I know I'm not the only one who wondered about the threesome "You and me and Leslie" ("you and me, endlessly".)
In "I'm A Believer" I simply could not understand what on earth he meant Mickey Dolenz sang "and rays of doubt hooked up in my mind" (not a trace of doubt...)

Does anyone else remembere Evel Kineval (sp?) jumping the Snake River?
That book was so much fun. As were Vols 2 and 3
