I had a crush on Dennis Weaver, who played the Dad on Gentle Ben...

The closest I got to watching any of the western shows was F-Troop.
Loooooved Taxi.
Andy Kaufman. brilliant.
F-Troop was great!
Mom - that was such a great song...I wanted a dolphin for a pet so badly when that show hit the air!

Taxi - I was always impressed with how Carol Kane matched herself to Andy's lunacy. And I really liked Christopher Lloyd.
speaking of commercials -- the Coke commercial where the little kid is covered in puppies....I still giggle
An impressive array of talent on that program.
Other 'animal' shows:
Adventures of Rin Tin Tin
Gentle Ben
Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp
Did I miss sing-a-long again??? Ok let me catch up...They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!
Everyone loves the king of the sea,
Ever so kind and gentle is he,
Tricks he will do when children appear,
And how they laugh when he's near!
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!
Loved the opening montage of ABC's Wide World of Sports...
The thrill of victory -
The agony of defeat!

NYadgal - it always amazed me that that skier wasn't killed - he actually wasn't even hurt that bad!
Loved loved loved F- Troop! ( and did I mention I loved that show?)
I had a thing for the bugler!
Amazing, isn't it?
Do you all remember when Donahue was first in syndication? Revolutionary.
The human drama, of athletic competition!

Didn't I just read that Larry Storch is going into Sly Fox?
Who got up early on July 29, 1981 to watch the wedding of Charles and Diana?

My mother and I did the wedding thing - and then the unfortunate funeral many years later.
ME ME ME ME ME!!!!
And...to bring it full circle, I got up early to watch her funeral.
I'm sorry...but is my little thread the fastest growing thread EVER in the history of BWW???

yes it is, robbie - and we all thank you VERY much for it!
Samee here got up early both days.
I was in Africa when she was killed - on safari in the middle of nowhere.
We heard about it a few days later - but it wasn't until a week later when we got back to Arusha/Kilimanjaro that we were able to get newspapers.
My safari mates and I had many discussions about how we could only imagine what the 'western' world was going through, and yet it wasn't part of reality for the Masai and the people we were around.
I think it was a healthy perspective to take back from the trip.
My mom and sister saved every newspaper and magazine for me - and taped everything...so I eventually saw it all. So very tragic!
more TV - Moonlighting!

It really blew me away to watch all the people's reaction as the carriage went by during the funeral - and especially after the boys joined in. I pretty much lost it when Elton sang. If he had done Don't let the sun go down on ME, I probably would have had a heart attack.
