The City of Chicago doesn't think so (And, incidentally, this isn't even the GAY Alderman doing this- Chicago really is San Francisco on the lake!)

A Chicago alderman wants to kill Chick-fil-A's plans to build a restaurant in his increasingly trendy Northwest Side ward because the fast-food chain's top executive vocally opposes gay marriage.

Ald.Proco "Joe" Moreno announced this week that he will block Chick-fil-A's effort to build its second Chicago store, which would be in the Logan Square neighborhood, following company President Dan Cathy's remarks last week that he was "guilty as charged" for supporting the biblical definition of marriage as between a man and woman.

"If you are discriminating against a segment of the community, I don't want you in the 1st Ward," Moreno told the Tribune on Tuesday.

Moreno stated his position in strong terms, referring to Cathy's "bigoted, homophobic comments" in a proposed opinion page piece that an aide also sent to Tribune reporters. "Because of this man's ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-fil-A's permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward."

But it IS okay to bear false witness if it helps you get out of a jam?

I think that's all people have when they hide behind the bible to justify their bigotry, or rather to justify the acts of oppression done to others in the name of their bigotry. Before I stopped engaging with commentors last week, I was astounded at how many people claiming to be "Christian" were telling flat out lies to bolster their arguments in favor of what Chik Fil A did.

This has all been just TERRIBLE for their image

Has it, though. I mean, yeah, we're all riles, but even on here we have people saying the effect of, "Well, I don't agree with what they've done, but their chicken just tastes too good!" And THAT, above all, seems to be the consensus I see elsewhere as well. Maybe I'm just a cynic, but aside from the noise, I don't know that this is really going to affect Chick Fil A at all.

I'm torn about the Boston thing. Is it legal? Does Boston have the right? I'm not sure I know.

I am sure between the Huckabee Eat in and the homos who just can't be bothered Chick-fil-a will be just fine.

I know in Chi-Town the alderman have almost limitless powers to deny zoning permits in their ward- that's why it took forever to let Walmart in.

I'd say Chick-Fil-A doesn't have a "right" to build a restaurant anywhere they want. People picket against Hooters coming in or a 24 hour convenience store being built- we can sure as hell say "no mor chikn"!
