Mamie's comment about Nordstrom's holiday decorations reminded me of the time my sister, brother-in-law and I spent the Thanksgiving weekend at DisneyWorld. We flew down a few days early and it was business as usual at the parks. However, on Wednesday night the parks closed maybe an hour early and on Thanksgiving, all 4 theme parks had been transformed into Christmas Wonderlands. Obviously the 7 dwarfs had been working all night to attain the transformation.

I made a home-grown double CD compilation of all "cocktail" Christmas songs and used "me own Mum" for clip art! She was actually holding an umbrella in this 1950s publicity photo, but through the magic of Photoshop and Illustrator, Mom's a Christmas Cutie here...

It's not Christmas for me until I break out Kenny and Dolly's Once Upon a Christmas! Many, many wonderful childhood memories of this one.
For years, all we had was a cassette of the album, which my grandfather taped from his original cassette. One day, my sister and I were playing with our tape player, and TAPED OVER Kenny and Dolly. We were devastated, and searched everywhere for a replacement. We didn't find it until a few years ago. My mom and I were shopping, and there was a big rack of random holiday CDs. We dug through, and there it was! We bought three copies. My sister and I have been forcing it upon our friends ever since. :)

This radio station down here in Jersey and Philadelphia area {b101} has begun playing Christmas music. It began this weekend and will go full time after Thanksgiving.
I pulled out my ANOTHER ROSIE CHRISTMAS CD and listened to it while cleaning my room yesterday night. It was a rocking time.

Best12Bars, those are fantastic track-listings.
One of my favorites that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is Jackie Gleason’s Merry Christmas album...really gorgeous, slow, sad arrangements (even “Jingle Bells” has this wonderfully melancholy feel to it).

I'll look Sufjan up MissP.
I'm going to buy some German Christmas music from Zeigried's which is a German store next to the Capitol Theatre. I'm still searching for Marie Osmond on iTunes. I've heard she's making a new one.

It isn't even Halloween and our local radio station (WALK-FM Long Island, NY) is already hyping their all-Christmas music format! What music do they feature in the spot? Brenda lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree". They'll be playing that tune 50 times a day in December.
