Jealous? (say it like Amy Poehler's character, Amber) Seriously, I do get his point that this contest should be more about amateurs. Adam will go so much farther than Clay. It's like Clay's career went south when he finally admitted he was gay (not that it really matters to me- it just seems that way- how else can you explain his stint on ANTM). Adam is soooooo much more appealing and so much more talented!

Maybe I'm missing something, but...aside from that opening paragraph in which he states his ears were bleeding (granted, I really like Adam and loathed that performance as well), none of this seems that bitter to me. I mean, he seems to be restating what we've all been saying here, regarding the producers and overhyping certain performers.

Maybe he really just didn't like Adam's sound.

But you're missing the whole point, Justagirl. If you don't like Adams' talent, and you're straight, you're a homophobe. If you don't like Adam's talent and you're gay, you're a bitter queen. Because he's the most talented person who's ever lived. I mean, he's like a billion times more talented than Clay, and a trillion times more talented than Kris Allen.

I find it very odd that anyone would assume that Clay Aiken would be inclined to love Adam Lambert's singing style, or his looks, simply because they are both gay. A molten core of self loathing? I think not. He's entitled to his opinion. Enough people have certainly weighed in with their opinions of him over the years. And I agree with every word he said about American Idol. When the finale of American Idol has almost nothing to do with the Idol contestants, there is something wrong. The focus of the whole show has shifted, and not for the better. The days of the "diamond in the rough", transforming before our eyes are gone. These new superstahs come into the competition fully formed and radio ready. Which takes all the fun out of it for me.

It just seems odd that Clay Aiken would all of a sudden have a comment to make about this season's final 2. He's never offered such a commentary before. Why now?

It looks like because someone on his subscription-only uber-fan blog asked him a question and he answered it.

I think the "bleeding" ears and "painful" comments were silly, but he is entitled to voice an opinion on his own blog when someone asks him a question.
