Trump's win was the greatest upset in the history of the sport. I don't believe that history will look too fondly upon the feat or his administration.

All of the above is the reason she lost. It's seems hard to grasp that she was a hated figure for many people. My own experience with apolitical friends was that there were many people shocked that I was fine with her as POTUS. She had been around for 25 years and people were tired of seeing her, hearing her, etc... With the people on this forum I have yet to read of any that were for Sanders and didn't vote for Clinton.

I supported Obama in 2008 & 2012 because I found him to be a bright and inspiring figure who had learned retail politics partly on some of the meanest streets in Chicago. The man organized events and activities in places where other politicos would dare not tread.
In 2016, I supported Hillary because I found her to be the most qualified candidate for potus in my lifetime. Also, Obama filled a key gap that broke a potential Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton train.
How anyone who's ever seen behind the curtain could hate Hillary is a mystery to me. Perhaps, she's not everyone's cup of tea, but hatred of the woman is arguably misdirected. If anything, the most recent general election revealed how elections in the US are really won (or lost), in a reality TV/Instagram era. Celebrity is gaining the upper hand on experience. That aside, she's the first woman in US history to win a major party's nomination for potus. That's an excellent capstone to an impressive career in public service.

Everything people "hated" in her was a nonfactor in every male presidential candidate in recent memory. Ambition, baggage, ego, autocratic, authoritative. As if Obama, her husband, both Bushs, and St. Reagan had none of those things.
The cruelest irony is every excuse people used to vote against her was being personified 1000 times over in President Convfefe.

The divide between the left and the right is now so vast, I just can't see how anyone can unify this country anymore. The extremes of either side are so stubborn and in many cases, not smart, that even a centrist wouldn't be good enough for anyone.

Centrism is dead because the Republican Party has shifted American politics to the extreme right. It is policy for them that climate change is a hoax, that queer people and women don't deserve rights, and that the drug war should not only continue, but be heightened. Hard to have centrism when one party has hijacked American discourse to an insane degree. Personally speaking, I'm not interested in the "centrist" solutions offered by a party that believes I should legally be discriminated against.
But that's just me.

Kdogg, she was my no means the perfect choice however I don't think we would be witnessing the dismantling of Democracy as we are seeing now. To be honest, this is the first time in my 62 years on this planet that I have a very deep sense of dread. I have been unhappy with things every President has done in my life. Hell, I even really disliked a few. I have never had the sense of fear that we are being driven over a cliff with no help in sight.

America is too far behind for another 'Centrist' candidate. How can the richest country on earth have a health care system that is in an absolute dire fiasco, a ridiculously low minimum wage with wealth accumulating at the top and inaccessible higher education? Hillary Clinton was not promising real change in these areas (particularly before Bernie). Trump was 'promising' change in all these areas that seemed to resonate with some voters, even if it didn't make any sense. Clinton may be representing the wealthy elite but Trump is the wealth elite (so is Clinton perhaps, but on a lot lower scale).
Hillary made and lost a bet that being a centrist candidate would have been sufficient (though of course had only one of the external factors such as Russian interference, FBI reopening a dead investigation and no mysogeny) she perhaps would be president now.

She's simply blaming anyone and everything for the loss of the election. She won't mention how maybe she was a terrible candidate, or ran an awful campaign or lied constantly.

She could say that maybe voters didn't want someone representing the working class who received obscene amounts of money to tell an investment banking firm you should have a public and private position.
She could say that maybe voters didn't want someone who voted for the Iraq war, various trade policies, bankruptcy bill etc.
She could say that maybe voters didn't want someone who was willing to carry on the business as usual policies around taxes, healthcare etc. and only adjust the minimum wage marginally.
She could say that maybe voters didn't want someone who has flip flopped on almost every major issue such as gay marriage, trade policies, bankruptcy bill etc.
But no. It's because of the Russians and her gender. I mean, I'm sure it is. But she was up against the worst political candidate in history. There is a lot more than just gender going on that would cause defeat here (including the awful system given she did actually get more votes than him. Ridiculous.).
