When are finalists announced?

Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
I thinking either April 11 or April 14. (Leaning towards April 14.)
Do the 11th, Tiff.
I'll be in Vegas on the 14th.
11th it is.
Vegas on the 14th? Could I hate you any more than I already do?
Possibly...it will be Anji, Clay, Sara and myself in Sin City.
Wait...can we still vote, or is it closed?
I don't know, what does the thread title say? :-P
Alright, Stephen, I officially do hate you more. You guys, Sin City, partying with all the sek!say people...bastards.
Partying for us is very tame though.
We're taking in a baseball game. I can't speak for anyone else, but my favorite part is the road trip.
Exciting news--Kitzy FINALLY got "Light in the Piazza"! It was just chillin' in the closet in the study and my mom didn't know whose it was. So I get to keep it!
Yay
Ooooh, "The Beauty Is" (Track 3) was a song that was on repeat for about 2 months after I bought the cast recording.
Marlene, I'm not, like, mocking your intellect or anything, but the closing date for voting is, like, two posts above your first one. Two. Posts.
Stephen, the road trip would be the most fun for me, too! Are you guys stopping anywhere on the way? Any side trip to Hoover Dam? Seeing any shows in Vegas? (Celine? *shudder* Cirque?)
Nah, though we are taking the more scenic route through the desert as opposed to the freeway route.
The World's Largest Thermometer is along the way. We'll also stop and get some "Alien Fresh Jerky" I suspect.
The Hoover Dam would be an option I suppose but I hadn't even thought of that.
Ironically, we'll be staying at New York, New York.
We are attending a Las Vegas 51s (Dodgers AAA team) baseball game on Thursday night.
Probably hit the big outlet malls in Barstow, CA one way.

Go figure. No offense taken, but when it comes to really simple things I'm not exactly the brightest crayon in the box. It's the reason I'm failing Physics. (Waaaait, you mean I didn't have to figure out the velocity/angle of refraction/insert scientific term here. It was in the problem?)
I'm advocating for the 14th, or I'll just happen to vote for the only individual whose tracks I've had an opportunity to listen to...which happens not to be my favorite of the three...but is currently very impressive.
You actually get to vote for two this round, Marlene.
So in effect, you are voting against one person.
I just realized I forgot to put on my boots and whore for votes this round.
*sigh* I'm just not in the mood. Maybe tomorrow.

Oh! That makes it sound so terrible, Patronus!
Stephen is a man with a vendetta.
Wah-wah, hurt crime, blah blah. *pulls out tiny violin again*
You're also free to just vote for one person, and have it count as just one vote!
Marlene, we're sticking with the 11th so Stephen's around for it. That gives you 3 days to listen to the clips and vote! (If you just want to hear the best ones from each person this week, I'd go for Kitz's freestyle, Spidey's U2 and Kerrie's freestyle.)
Oh crap, I still have to do critiques, don't I? Argh. I pretty much echo what everyone else has said. I'll make them really brief this week. As I've been emphasizing for the last month anyway, you've got more to prove to the listeners than you do to the judges anyway.
I'd actually suggest that you listen to Kitz's Sondheim, Spidey's freestyle and Kerrie's freestyle. More importantly than debating which are the best I think it's safe to say stay away from Kitz's U2 and Spidey's Sondheim - they were easily the low points this week.
In regards to voting against someone, that is basically what this amounts to. You pick 2 out of 3. It isn't being mean at all. In any competition with more than 2 people there are going to be more losers than winners.

Oops, I meant Spidey's freestyle, not his U2.
But I stand by Kitz's freestyle, although her Sondheim was also very good.

Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah, I'll give you that. Kitz's freestyle or Sondheim are both quite good. I loved the Sondheim, but I think the more positive reaction came from the freestyle overall so that might be the safest bet if you are picking just one.

I dunno. I still LOVED Spidey's Sondheim. It gave me shivers.
And, no. It wasn't cold.
*bah dump ching*
Where is cam with her critique's? Are you posting all three of our scores together, Tiff?
I really should do these things in advance, because by now, much of what I have to say has already been voiced more eloquently by other people.
Kitzarina: "Beautiful Day"...I don't want to dwell on negativity. You know it wasn't good. We know it wasn't good. I really wanted to like it too because it's one of my favorite U2 songs.
I think you could've done really well with something from the '80s instead, but I don't think it's just the song choice that was problematic. The tone was poor, the pitch was all over the place, your voice sounded thin in many parts, there was no spirit in it, you could hardly hear the accompaniment...it was just...well, everyone's allowed to have one bad song. "Moment In The Woods" was substantially better. I'm not familiar with Into The Woods, so it's a testament to your charisma that I was still pulled into this rendition, despite it being acapella and despite me not knowing this song. It's also great to see you doing an upbeat song, and I hope you keep switching up your song choices if you make it to the final round. "Someone To Watch Over Me" showed us what you're made of. You do best at these classic sultry songs, which is why your "Maybe This Time" was so good. I would say this is one of your best submissions yet. Subdued, restrained, good voice control, a range of vocal abilities and emotions...wonderful.
Spidey: "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" is one of my favorite songs from How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and I thought you'd do really well with it. Technically, your voice was fine. You were on-pitch (although it was iffy for some of the falsetto parts, I was pleasantly surprised), and your tone was pure, clear (aside from the static problems) and you know I like you. I had two problems with it: 1) It seemed to be lacking emotion, which I won't go into much because it's already been mentioned here. The song was written after Bono's dad died and first performed at his funeral, and I think really embodies the tense relationship they had. A subdued build-up and then unleashed anguish is what makes it work. 2) I really, really wish you'd sung the entire song and kept the ending, because for me, the climax and heart of the song is in the build-up of "Can you...hear me...when I SIIIIIING...you're the reason I sing...you're the reason...why...the opera is in me." It made me cry the first time I saw Bono do it live, and he was crying too. I mean this sincerely, I hope you record this song again and keep in the ending. I would love to add it to my iPod. Just do it, please?
"Not While I'm Around You" is one of the few Sondheim songs I know, and it was really ambitious of you to choose such a difficult song to sing...without accompaniment, to boot! No, it wasn't your best entry...maybe one of your weakest ones. But props to you for the guts. (Maybe you ought to re-record this with music to prove yourself to the critics?
) "Johnny B. Goode"...again, what I like about you are the challenging songs you choose every week, and one thing you must get credit for is your willingness to choose a variety of genres and try them out without apprehension. This was definitely your strongest song in the round. It was fun to listen to, although there's something slightly melancholy about your voice that was hard to shake. But it was pleasant.
Kerrie: I know I brow-beat you into submission to do "One" for this week. I blame myself entirely for being underwhelmed. I think you did all you could do with this song, but when I think about it, I've only ever really enjoyed "One" when it's done live, within the context of international unification to eliminate poverty in third world countries. I don't even care much for Bono's studio rendition. I won't penalize you for me not being blown away. It's still something I would probably add to my iPod because tonally, you sound beautiful, and I enjoy your voice. "Not A Day Goes By" didn't leave any impression on me. There were some minor pitch issues. Your voice was fine. It just bored me. It's repetitious and bland. "Defying Gravity"...nearly made me wet myself. Easily one of your top 3 best songs in this competition, and considering your submissions, that's really saying something. Some people said the tempo was too slow, but that didn't bother me. Thank God your voice wasn't drowned out by the piano (nice piano playing, Steven, BTW!). You soared. I got shivers. And best of all, I could tell you were having a good time singing it. It sounds like a lot of fun. F*cking fantastic. I hope you'll stick with doing another epic song like this if you make it to the final round, and I hope you also do a song that's substantially more upbeat than your previous entries. If there's one complaint with song choices so far, it's that you sound really sad. Ballads are your comfort zone, for sure, but surprise us with something more up-tempo!
