I was about to say the same thing, lil. With this whole business of saying that Bill clinton must be gay and now this--it's said so frequently on this board but...methinks the lady doth protest too much.


In any case, there's really nothing to say that hasn't already been said, she's a despicable human being, she's probably the daughter of Satan, blah blah blah--it's really not worth fighting about anymore. People are starting to see how ridiculous she is, and the only thing to do now is sit back and watch the lightbulbs turn on.

Can someone please tell me why republicans are still allowed to be this obnoxious? With all the sh*t they've done in the past 6 years, they should be FORCED to shut up. The "Buy Stuff From People Who Hate Liberals But Have Never Held Any Public Office" franchise began when Clinton was in office. They were at least bitching about what Democrats were doing in office. Now, all they do is bitch about what Democrats MIGHT do IF they were in office. They don't even back up their Republican War-Lords any more, they just hate on Democrats

Why aren't the Republicans denouncing these remarks? WHy did they invite her in the first place? I mean, is this their example of a typical Republican? My Mom and Dad are Republicans and they would be outraged if they heard such filth! All the major nominees or potential hopefuls anyway were there (all but John McCaine)and I don't hear any of them distancing themsleves from her remarks.That shows me that they are AOKAY with her comments and see nothing wrong with them. I sure hope the Log Cabin Republicans have something to say or maybe they'll just smile and wave like the good little boys that they are. Funny, Sean Hannity accuses the liberals of practicing hate all the time.
I bet the last word Matthew Sheppard heard was 'FAGGOT!' I pray this story does not die. I am emailing it to as many news sources as possible and hope it gets as much attention as the Isaiah Washington story did. Perez Hilton is already starting a campaign to put a stop to this.

You're absolutely right romantico. When I was talking o my mom about this she just said, "How is it that any of the conservatives can take her seriously? They certainly can't be endorsing her anymore." And yet, there are obviously some people that don't mind it. I just think it's so ridiculous that liberals are so often accused of spewing hate when every word that comes out of Ann Coulter's mouth is an insult. Then again, i've never really heard a Republican quote her or endorse her, but they're obviously not doing anything to stoop her. It makes me so angry!

Does Ann Coulter believe what she says? I think she goes home and laughs her ass off at her own antics.

I'm less offended by her than by the people who give her a platform to spew her crazy rhetoric.

I think it's a combination of the two. And I do agree...but I want to know who it is that endorses her. I might not watch enough interviews or something, but I've never seen a repulican address the issue of her or endorse her. Who is it out there that's helping her remain so popular?

in any case, i've called five people in the last hour to tell them what she said and I've gotten five gasps, five "She's uch a morno!"s and five "Well of course you shoudl tell people about it--I can't imagine that can just die away." So there might be hope yet.

Why is the MSM so reluctant to cover this? Most of the coverage I've seen so far has been on blogs. It reminds me of how slowly the traditional press picked up on the Trent Lott/Strom Thurmond incident. They had to be pushed into covering that one. Do they not understand the significance or do they just not want to rock the boat by implicitly criticizing the right wing?

Until someone can actually prove to me that Ann was born a female I reserve all jusgement on wheather or not she's actually a she.I want to see bay pictures of her as a child or teen. I can never get past that gigantic adam's apple of hers.

Dick Cheney was at this event. Why hasn't he said anything about this? You would think a father of a gay child would be outraged. For all we know he was one of the many who laughed and applauded.

If anyone wants to know the meaning of class than please read Elizabeth Edwards remarks to dear Ann. I think we know who the winner of this debate is Ann!

When Miss Coulter spoke about John at the conservative convention in Washington yesterday, she used a word that she intended as a nasty and derogatory suggestion. John and I have long ago shrugged off the vile words of this person. When she made a joke about the exact moment of death of Charlie Dean (Howard's brother and a schoolmate of mine), and when she attacked the courageous 9-11 widows, she told you all you need to know about what she is made of: her compassion -- or lack thereof. Now we need to find out about you.


Although her words did not hurt us, they may have hurt some in the gay community. We are all sick and tired of anyone supporting or applauding or introducing hate words into the national dialogue, tired of people thinking that words that cause others pain are fair game. And we are sick and tired of people like Miss Coulter thinking that her use of loaded words about the homosexual community in this country is remotely humorous or appropriate.

John gave a graduation speech at NC State several years ago, and in it he said that none of us can stand by when words of bigotry and division are used. It is only when the rest of us stand up and say that this is not acceptable that we drum out the hate-mongers from amongst us. The first reaction in the room at the conservative convention yesterday was a gasp -- a horrified gasp, even -- but it did not last. In a few seconds, those who were not horrified started clapping and drowned out the gasps.

Now it is our turn to drown out the hate. Find a way -- whether it is contribution here that sends a message to Miss Coulter and those who applauded her (which, of course, I prefer) or whether it is a statement on this blog or others or all of the above -- but please find a way not to sit silent in acceptance. It doesn't change until we say we will not be silent when this happens

You will probably see more and more conservative Republicans begin to shun her as election time draws near.They will not want her hate speech associated with them as they try to win the White House.
